I've been one who has been as critical of a possible Watson hire as the primary play caller as anyone. But what if Watson is given the co-OC/QB coach role as the primary play caller and Mike Groh is hired as co-OC/WRs with Wickline being Assistant HC/OL coach and working with Watson to install the Okla State offense here with Watson?

Would you guys go for that?

It gives us a guy who has been a play caller before in Watson. You have a guy in Wickline who has been a primary coach under Gundy for nearly a decade inside of that system that has undergone OC changes on multiple occasions. And then you have Groh as a guy with NFL and college experience and ace recruiter. The main caveat would be the installation of the OSU offense and not the offense that Watson has been running previously.

While I think that is certainly the best case scenario if Watson were to be announced Co-OC. I also fear we'd have an issue of "too many irons in the fire".

It's actually what I've been thinking is a strong possibility, except that if it was Groh, there really shouldn't be a holdup. It also doesn't fit the "big splash" people are reporting. Groh is an elite WR coach and recruiter but not as an OC.

I actually thought the combo of Lincoln Riley as passing game coordinator/OC and wickline as running game coordinator/oline coach would have been pretty deadly.
