Not Good

...who cares? we need player's at texas that really want to be at texas. i will not accept anything less...
Who knows, maybe these guys thought they had found the gravy train...then, they found out it a little work was gonna be involved...

Remember what was said about stars****
On Monday Coach Strong said he was going to get his staff together first, so when he talked to recruits they'd know the full staff they'd be working with.

That was yesterday, the 6th... dead period ends next Wed, the 15th.

Good grief, what a bunch of whiney ass little girls. Guy just got hired, and now you already have him not giving a shit about recruits? I guess in another week you'll start to call for Strong's firing?

If these guys want to go to Tech over Texas, I say good f##king riddance and enjoy the sand assholes.

You captured it all! Thank you. I have been very disappointed by the majority of the fans on this boards response to the hire. Strong is a great hire and you'd think we hired El Paso community colleges football coach. He leaves UT for tech?! Haha is this real life? He just demoted himself. He realized a real coach was coming in and decided to dodge that bullet.

They are decommiting because Strong isn't the splash hire to save a recruiting class. Got to produce on the field
So a defensive recruit is decommitting because strong isn't a big enough name yet he's regarded as a F'ing good defensive guy who's put out just excellent defenses and even won national titles as a DC. Also bringing an excellent DC to Austin. Um yeah Makes sense.

Stuff like this happens in a change. I'm not sure why anyone is surprised. Has nothing to do with strong not being a good enough hire.

Logic and 17-18 year olds do not mix.

So we now have 0 DT commits for the second year in a row?

This has everything to do with Bo and his relationship with the kids. Obviously Bo sold Bo and Texas

Makes no sense, like others have said logic and teens just don't go together. I'm going to leave a school that just hired a coach known to be a great defensive coach for Tech....a school that has ever played defense?

This is all expected when you have change. Things will get worse before they get better. Just keep telling yourself we could still have Mack Brown

Anyone who decommits is welcome to go. Kids who where on the fence aren't thinking of anyone but themselves. If you want to be here, you stay committed. If you aren't sure, see ya!!

They have every right to think of themselves. But I like a player who just wants to be a Longhorn.

at least this place isnt like another board...good lord some hard trolling going on there. Basically Strong is a fraud as he hasnt locked down Texas yet

Undeveloped prefrontal cortex-- it's science. :)

I think we all knew this was coming in recruiting without a "big splash" hire. But if a Strong could turn UL around working with little, I have faith he'll make it happen here. Keep the hope alive and Hook'em.

Here's the thing...those people who don't care for Strong because he's NOT Saban are gonna grab ahold of anything they can use to slam him. Rick Nelson said it in a song..."You can't please everybody..." Strong hasn't been in Austin long enough to know where his neighborhood H.E.B. is yet, and yeah, I suspect he's been a little busy interviewing potential assistant coaches and putting his staff together. Combine that with getting moved in at Bellmont, and just stopping to catch his breath from what has to have been a whirlwind three or four days, and if he hasn't had a chance to placate the '14 recruits, that wouldn't be all that surprising. There's gonna be some attrition when you change out a coaching staff, and it doesn't stop with the recruits. Several players on the team currently will leave because Strong won't coddle them and hand them orange slices like Mack did. So what? Strong was hired because all of us want a UT team that's not soft and wins more. For the anti-Strong faction, he's here, and he's the head coach, NOT Nick Saban. If Strong can do the job, two or three years down the road you'll be glad to have him. If he can't do the job, he AND Patterson will be gone, and UT will have to do this whole thing over again. I can't speak for anyone else here, but after what we've seen of the team for the last half a decade, I'm more than willing to give Coach Strong a chance to show he's the right choice, even if a few recruits do get butthurt and decide to go somewhere else. Like a poster above, I want players who WANT to be at UT.

I am glad that the 3 have left. They did not want to be here in the first place. They will regret their childish move.
