We're here at Kincaid school on a rainy day in Houston. Lots of kids, working hard to impress.

We will have a full update afterward.

MVP's of today's Nike Football Training Camp - Houston:

QB Skyler Bonneau (Coppell High School)

RB Remus Bulmer (Ridge Point - Sugar Land) *Bulmer's brother Jameel Cook is a DB at Ridge Point too and looked good today.

WR Gary Haynes (Manvel High School)

OL Erik McCoy (Lufkin High School)

DL Nikolas Daniels (Clear Creek HS)

LB Spencer Choka (Rudder HS - Bryan)

DB Deontay Anderson (Manvel High School)

I watched Aggie TE commit Jordan Davis and walked away underwhelmed.  In speaking with other recruiting analyst, they have him projected to a gaurd at the next level.

IMO,  the best TE was Stanley Morgan from St. Augustine HS in New Orleans.

If that high school sounds familar to you it because his teammate  and defensive back Jermaine Anderson and top prep running back Lenord Fourtnette.

Morgan is 6'4 or 6"5, 220 and looked skinny.  Great frame to add wieght.

Morgan told me that Jermaine is in his ear concerning checking out Texas and told me he plans to visit this summer.

! NOTE:  Athlete Derrick Dillon (Pine High School, LA) told us he visited TEXAS yesterday (04/5/2014).  He worked out with the Wide Receivers today.

Dillion was one the first recruits I interviewed.  Dillion visited Texas yesterday and was extremely impressed with the facilities and the coaching staff.

Dillion has one if not the impressive highlight films I have seen this year.  He plays QB in high school but, is being recruited to play slot receiver in college.

Great young man.

North Shore High School's Tyler Moore told us Coach Wickline has been in communication with him. The communication started when Wickline was at Ok. State and picked up again when Coach Wickline took the job at Texas.

Tyler is a smart & articulate 6-5, 330lb Offensive Guard (3.8 GPA). Other schools interested: Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Arizona State and Texas Tech.

Another interesting tidbit involving how well-thought of Charlie Strong is...

As mentioned in the Malik Antoine story, Tre Jackson (University Lab School -Baton Rouge, LA) is a class of 2016 Florida Gators commit.  I talked to his dad Jack today about Tre and the potential for him to visit other schools.  Jack played at the University of Florida in the early 90's when Charlie Strong was the DC at Florida.  He said that he called Charlie Strong and him and Tre will probably take a visit to Texas at some point.  Not earth-shattering news but he did stress that the ONLY reason he called Texas was because Charlie Strong is the head coach.

When asked about Charlie Strong, Jack Jackson said that Texas has a "GREAT" head coach.  He also said that he (Strong) will give you "GREAT" talent.

Saw a lot of mismatches today in drills but there were a few kids that played really hard despite their size.  Cy Creek CB Isa Anderson can't be taller than 5-7 but he went up against some long and tall wideouts.  Played with a lot of heart today.

Kobie Whiteside, DT from Alief Taylor HS was one of 6 freshmen in attendance today.  And he is a BIG BOY.  Still way early in the recruiting process for Whiteside but we were told that he is a HUGE Texas fan. Keep an eye on this kid over the next few years.

Thanks for the info, A.C. Nice to know that Strong is thought of so highly by someone with first-hand experience.

Jalen Campbell performed well today in Houston.  Tore his ACL and meniscus around this time last year but held up well today in drills.  Footwork looked really good too.

Sorry for the 1-hitter posts.  Just going through my notes and photos from today.

Staff helping out with the players today included Jordan Palmer (Carson Palmer's brother/UTEP QB/ Chicago Bears QB) and former Colorado Buffs Coach Dan Hawkins.

Here's a pic of Coach Hawkins after McPhaul told him a joke (in all seriousness) -

bring on your "posts" however as you wish...  we are enjoying them completely!

Pulled some decent video today and will try to get it published tomorrow.

Also... Nike and Student Sports put on one hell of a camp.  Top-notch instructors and motivators. An impressive production was displayed for these young men today.

3 players today earned their ticket to Nike's "The Opening" on July 5-10, 2014 in Beaverton, Oregon:

  • Deionte Thompson (West Orange Stark HS) *Alabama Commit
  • Jerry Tillery (Evangel Christian HS - LA) *Notre Dame Commit
  • Jordan Davis (Clear Lake High School) *Texas A&M Commit
Complete list of The Opening invitees can be found here - http://www.studentsports.com/blog/2014/02/10/opening-2014-official-roster/
