Nick Saban Game Changer

Please elaborate on why you think this? I'd love for him to be our next coach but there's nothing telling me he will repeat his only regret in his career.

I don't think he regrets it. It has turned out great for him. I think that was all coach speak, media spin stuff by him on 60 Minutes.

The media and fan bases love to criticize coaches for making moves and not telling them way in advance, but the reality is everyone in life takes promotions, etc. And the reality is these coaches are given no choice but to give the standard line to the media at times. That is just rrality. It doesn't make them bad ppl.

While at UNC, Mack said he was not interested in Texas.

BTW, I think the odds with Saban are probably 25%.

But I don't think the fear of another Miami situation will have any impact on him.

I know some BMDs and MMDs think the odds are higher. We will see.

JMO.

The man said that is only regret in his professional career. It's kinda hard to compare Macks situation at unc to Saban's at Alabama. His age will also come into play. Why throw everything away at Alabama and the very real chance at becoming the greatest hc in college fb history for the chance of success or failure in Austin.its very unlikely he can reproduce what he's done in Tuscaloosa. Hope I'm wrong tho.

I don't think he is coming here, BUT

I also know he is having a hard time finding his QB for next season right now.

It can also get kind of boring without a challenge. There is literally nothing else he can do to satisfy their fan base.

He's also lost his good friend and AD Moore in the last year. He speaks often about how important that relationship is to him (his AD). He can be a very demanding person, high maintenance. It takes a unique personality to please his demands. He has many friends in the UT circle of alums. Perhaps Patterson and company match his needs?

Perhaps he not only wants a new challenge, but wants to award Kriby Smart for his service?

Perhaos he wants to retire in Austin?

The guy who his mentor (Belichik) coached under, Bill Parcells, was a program builder too. He moved around to different teams.

He is a young 62 and a lifer imo.

I don't think we get Saban, but there are reasons he would leave.

You cannot take his statements on 60 Minutes all that serious. What else do you exoect him to say? I think Mack's statements do fit here JMO. All these coaches are forced to feed the media the spin factor. They have no choice.
