Nick Harvey

Except that Sumlin has no body of evidence to prove he's capable of putting a good defense on the field.
That would be exactly Texas's counter on that assertion. I guarantee that is what CS is doing this weekend.

To play Devil's Advocate, that would be my pitch at Texas A&M.
"Listen, we were not that good on defense. But if you come to Texas A&M, you'll get immediate playing time to get our defense amongst the SEC elite."

He may or may not buy into that but that would be my spin.
Good point, but I don't think he has a bunch to draw on from his past as an HC. Harvey could possibly play sooner at aggy, but would he be playing in an effective defense? Sumlin might make me eat crow come next year, but given his past Ds at aggy and his previous stops, I have my doubts aggy's D will be any better next year than it was this year.

Yes I am.

I said that prior to the visit actually happening. I still think we hold onto Harvey but at this point I have no idea.

Harvey is for sure visiting Texas for recruiting purposes (not just to see his buds). Multiple sites have even reported that De La Torre, Vacarro and Duke were his hosts for the visit. He wouldn't be trying to keep this "silent" and "low-key" if he was just visiting his buds.

Liucci is a biased idiot, but he normally knows what's going on with the staff/team. His info is much more reliable then say a Taylor Hamm IMO. The fact that both Hamm and Luicci are saying the A&M staff didn't know about the visit also makes believe there's some truth to it.

Wait a minute!! aggy has 9 returning starters on defense!!! LOL

Harvey was supposedly a UT fan. When Harvey committed, aggy had just shut down OU in the Cotton Bowl (An OU team that had blown out UT in 2012) and Manziel had just won the Heisman and the phony aggy hype machine was in full gear and the UT defense had been a disaster in 2012 and Mack was leading UT on a long path to nowhere. Since that time, the aggy defense imploded, aggy finished 9-4 and Manziel is gone and UT addressed their head coaching problem with a defense guy who had one of the best defenses in the nation in 2013. Gee, why would Harvey or ANY rational aggy recruit, especially on defense, reconsider an aggy commitment and consider UT???

I've read many posts from Prop Joe, on OS. I can say that even though he is an aggie, his thoughts are mostly sensible and unbiased. He will be an asset to this board, as you will see over time.

I think I feel good about him. All of the information we are getting indicates that he's going to flip to A&M.

No offense to Joe, but everyone on the A&M side also said there was no way Harvey would visit UT. Other then a few people I don't think anyone has a clue what's going on with Alaka and Harvey.

Fair point. I didn't think Harvey was going to visit this weekend but I've always thought him to be a flight risk. He's always been a soft commit to me at best.

C'mon, Joe, you were pretty straightforward early in this thread that he wouldn't flip and now you're saying you've considered it a "soft commitment" all along. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if we flip Harvey and you guys flip Olaka, or if both stay committed to their current school, or if both end up at a&m, or if both end up at Texas.

Complete tossup, it appears.

i'd be pretty surprised if it happened.

Brasky you're right. At the time of my "id be surprised if it happened" post the only info out there was Harvey telling Taylor Hamm that he was done taking visits. He's always had a soft spot for the horns but at that point he was saying all the right things.

Obviously things have changed. I still think he ends up at A&M but now I look at him and alike as uncommitted prospects that both teams are fighting for.

Sumlin still has his in home visit available with Harvey. Maybe that will give A&M an opportunity to redirect.

Who knows.

The 1st and last mistake is listening to the tool bag that is Taylor Hamm. The guy thinks he's part of the story.
