New Uniforms?

Keep our unis the same but would like a 3rd alternative uni as well.
I love traditional uniforms: Texas, Penn St, Michigan, Chicago Bears are a few of my favorites.
Agree with you excpet, I hate the Penn States look, just very high school like.

Actually most of the NFL uni's are pretty good, never really like the Dolphins or the Bills and Jacksonville is horrid, but most are well done.

In college, there are some ugly ones, to numerous to mention. KU use to be terrible, this year I think they improved.

I never have like Bamas much, however I think LSU may have the best uni in college football. Lots of personal opinions out there on this

The all white uniforms are some of the best in college, its a shame they aren't are home uniforms. But I disagree to keep up with the changing times in college, introducing a third uniform wouldn't be a bad idea at all. Im opposed to the flashy high neon or whatever Maryland put on the field years ago, but what about an all burnt orange uniform, or smoke grey.

tweaks would be fine by me. also wouldn't mind a 3rd uni as long as it was classic and not oregon/tech/aggy/maryland
I'd think an all black uni, which would be opposite the storm trooper uni would be a good addition. Keep it classic though.

Our uniforms have been tweaked multiple times over the last 50 yrs or so
We didnt have a Longhorn logo until the early 60's

then it had numbers on the helmet, that went away a few yrs later

Burnt orange came in around 1960 or so, bright orange until then

The word TEXAS went on the front of the jersey in late 70's

we used to wear orange stockings, no bare calfs

we have tweaked the size, shape, and type of lettering and numbers multiple times

we have had stripes down the side of the pants

we use to have long socks trimmed with orange after we no longer wore stockings

we have had numbers on the sleeves, no numbers on the sleeves, stripes on the sleeves etc

To say we dont need uniform changes because they are perfection is pretty short sided, they have been tweaked numerous times

Everything you mentioned is still in the realm of traditional, at least in this era of football.

We don't need new fancy-dangled uniforms to win football games. We need leadership, as in a QB and Head Coach.

If we ever take the field in a camo uni or helmet I will get up and go back to the tailgate.

The practice uniforms that Nike created for us are just awful. I would get queasy if I had to wear those. About the only colors that I see that look good with Burnt Orange is white or gray or silver. I hate the Cowboys but I could see us going to a kind of a Cowboys theme for a "special" road unit with Silver pants and silver helmets, white logo with orange trim throughout, with a white jersey. I don't think that plan would work well with our Orange jerseys though.

Can I play devil's advocate here for a second?

There are at least two demographics/markets for whom you design the uniform for: the fans and the players. Is the reason that we, the fans, don't like the trend of alternate uniforms and helmets because we are older and/or (dare I say it) whiter than the players? Is the reason why the players like alternate uniforms and helmets because they are younger and blacker than our fanbase?

I think the case can be made for adopting an alternate uniform and helmet which perhaps bridges the gap between cultures and ages--a uniform which is worn sparingly and which may be very popular in terms of fan sales. Most soccer clubs throughout the world do this, although their home jerseys are still the #1 seller generally.

I like the uniforms but I wouldn't mind a little tweak. But I wouldn't want any major changes, why fix it if it isn't broke

If this is about branding then why would you change or tweak the most recognizable logo, uniform, brand in ALL of sports. Unless you're a branding expert be prepared to be humbled.

If this is about capitulating to a young person that has yet to add anything meaningful to a century old institution such as our esteemed University just in order to get a commitment to play at our University that really isn't a commitment! Is it change for change's sake? In the pursuit of the 5 Star do we risk losing our unique and infinitely recognizable brand? Just to make some KID happy. A kid that will one day grow up and say to his fellow alumni "Why the heck did they change the brand, the logo, the uniforms, color of our school? Why can't we go back to what we grew up loving? Teenage Mutant Ninja Longhorn uniforms are just silly. These young kids....." The recruits that won't come to UT unless we change our uniforms probably are to stupid to get through Freshman English as well.

Sorry about rant. I feel better.

This is close to my heart and mind if you couldn't tell.

I don't mind the tweaking aspect but, I'm in the camp that Texas along with a few other blue programs, should never change their uniforms.

If you have the most recognizable brand in all of sports, what's the difference between tweaking and twerking?

Our all white road jerseys are the sweetest in the country! Please Please don't EVER change what we have!!

If you have the most recognizable brand in all of sports, what's the difference between tweaking and twerking?
Tweaking is like keeping a classic muscle car in pristine condition by only changing and/or upgrading parts when necessary. Twerking is like applying big, gaudy gold or silver letters on the back window.
