New coaching staff

Another tweet from BeingReal:
Sources: Strong in no hurry to assemble Offensive Staff. "Defensive wins Championships" and "Needs most immediate attention"
Lol! Beingreal.

OB reporting that Tom Herman will be a long shot for OC based on their contacts.

What about this staff?

HC -- Strong

OC/QB -- Watson

RB/ST -- Carter

WR -- Joker

OL -- Wickline

TE/RC -- Chambers

DC/DB -- Bedford

DL -- Giles

DL/RC -- Orgeron

LB -- BJM

S&C -- Moorer

Clearly there is some Louisville blood, Texas blood & NEW blood all mixed together... What are the major weaknesses of this staff? Is the staff strong enough to overcome the possible shortcomings of Watson? Would you like this staff?

no Watson, no Carter, no Chambers

I think we need Wyatt to stay for Texas recruiting contacts and Porter would be nice as TE coach and have Chambers as a off the field personnel for recruiting.

According to Beingreal:

Sources confirm both Bedford and Watson have now formally accepted the coordinator jobs on Charlie Strong's Texas Staff

Oh great. It appears we have a proven DC, a 2nd + tier name coach who might actually be a 1st tier coach, and now an OC who wouldn't make most people's list of top 20 OCs. I hope

Strong's faith is more than justified, but he better bring some ace recruiters with the rest of this staff, and they need to be strong position coaches as well. Otherwise, we will have blown a big opportunity, and killed any momentum we ever had.

I don't particularly want Watson either. Having said that, this "BeingReal" guy, from what I've read by many, deletes the tweets that are wrong and of course just keeps up the ones that are correct. So, on that alone, I would reign it in until we get more confirmation from another totally different source

This would suck. Bedford is good given Strong is great defensive coach. Offensive staff would be one of worst and not equivalent to any Top 25 performing offensive.

Update: Burton is now saying, "not so fast on the Watson hire". Says he is hearing that Strong may have someone else on the hook. Lists the following as names he has heard:

Herman, Ohio St

Yurcich, Okl State

Henson, Mizzou

Watson, Louisville

Norvell, Ariz St

Which is not like the others?

I like everyone on this except Watson. If I had to rank them I'd have:

1. Henson

2. Yurcich

3a. Herman

3b. Norvell

5. Watson

Recruits want to be in a EXCITING offense. Especially in the Big 12.

I really like the Auburn Offense. That offense wants to run the ball and does with authority. Then when the LBs start coming down hill to stop the run you get play action over the middle. Shipley in the slot would kill in that offense. Ash or any of the QBs can make the throws. With the one two punch of Gray and Brown Texas would be extremely dangerous in the Big XII as early as next season(I'm sold on Strongs D). I realize that is Malzahn's offense but is there anyone else that runs that style of spread?

I would say Okie light is similar but pass more than run but when they do run are pretty efficient.

I know OK St. runs the ball very well but I always thought of them as a pass first team. When they do run it always seems it is on a delay or draw. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with that. It seems to me OK St passes to run the ball and Auburn runs to pass the ball. With the talent currently on campus I think I would prefer the latter.
