New Coaching Order

bobby petrino should never be mentioned on texas boards, just my opinion
THIS!

And, if we can land Fisher with Pruitt and Narduzzi, this would be the coaching staff from Hell!

If we get a guy from this pool, I'll be very happy:

Jim Harbaugh

John Harbaugh

Nick Saban

Gus Malzahn

Jimbo Fisher

I would make all of them say no....twice.

IMO if it were not for Petrino having that affair, he would most likely be in the conversation.
True. The problem is, with the Kearney, Applewhite and Cleve issues, and other issues "rumored," this program cannot afford to take someone with a highly documented story like Petrino.

Jimbo Fisher is said to be making up ground.
If Jimbo were to leave FSU, look for FSU to interview Kirby Smart the Bama DC.

Other scenario:

Saban to Texas

Fisher to Bama

Smart to FSU
If the new HC hasn't been announced by the BcS Championship game, it'll be Fisher or Malzahn. Good deal either way.

Mack may have shot himself in the foot...He didn't wan't a 63 yr old Saban to come in and excell...I have read that MB always wanted behind the scene to break DKR record of wins at UT....Now he kills the Saban deal only to possibly have 48 year coach Fisher come in who has the years to break the DKR wins at UT and be remembered over MB.

It's going to have to be a straight up money whip for Fisher.
Does Texas go 7 years 50 million for him?
FSU is strapped. We might have to only go 7 years and $45 million. That would be roughly a $2 million dollar bump from his new deal.

I think Fisher is a very realistic choice and Texas has a good chance to poach him from FSU.

There are about 5 other schools who can go toe to toe financially with Texas (ND, Mich, OSU, Bama, USC). All other schools, no matter how good their football teams are, are a tier below financially and cant get into an arms race with Texas and win.

FSU has finance issues and cant compete with what Texas can offer. That is the first spot to go for a coach with a proven track record. Pretty much no ACC school can compete with Texas. Outside of the 5 schools mentioned above (plus Oklahoma) pretty much every other coach in the country will be fair game.

I'm laughing my balls off at all these idiots in the media and online who keep saying "Art Briles, ART BRILES"....

I'm not saying he's a bad coach. i'm not even saying he's not a good coach.

I AM saying he's 2nd tier in the coaching search AT BEST. Way WAY too many good coaches whose names are being discussed as having interest for Texas to settle for Briles.

I think Briles has done an excellent job with Baylor, but for some reason that I cannot identify, I don't really like Art Briles.

I am a woman who loves sports, particularly football, grew up around the game, and grew up with a dad who was a natural coach. I like Madden, Saban, Bellichek (sp?), and Harbaugh. I like Mike Leach. I loved Landry, Royal, and Bum. I liked watching Bear Bryant walking out in his houndstooth jacket and hat to meet Royal, particularly after we had whipped Alabama.

I don't have anything against Briles, but I don't like him.

Just a worthless $.02.

McPhaul you were reading my mind..But if S somehow came to Texas then you have Fisher going to Alabama with all of S recruits stocked piled over 4 years.Since Fisher is only 48 years old Alabama could still be the power house it is now.I am starting to wonder if Fisher isn't the answer at Texas. Tough choice. Do you really see Kirby Smart at Florida State. I think it would be a successful coach now in the ranks. S might be an initial splash at Texas but in the long run is he the answer for the long haul. Recruiting: you have Tim Brewster at Florida State...Defense:Jeremy Pruitt-Florida State spent 6 years with S at Alabama. Florida State is rated in the top 5 in defense and offense in nation.I am really starting to like Fisher-Your thoughts
If Fisher brought Brewster with him, I'd be down with that.

Well, if that is the case you can forget about Brewster.

I was a Saban guy all the way and still am.

However, I am starting to really warm up to Fisher. His age and recruiting prowess are big positives.

He has some Saban in him but not quite as rigid. Getting Brewster and possibly Pruitt would be nice as well.

Well, if that is the case you can forget about Brewster.
from your statement i take it that Brewster also has skeletons in his closet - looks like quite a few members of Mack's staff have had issues which the program could have done without

Women's intuition?

Kinda feel the same about Briles. Is there a transfer out there that he won't take?

Agree - does not seem like a "cannonball" splash hire.

I truly can't identify why I don't like Briles, but it is unusual for me to not appreciate a coach.

I loved watching Kendal when he was here. Even at practice, when the other guys were fooling around, he was watching and assessing. I thought he would be very good for UT, and he was before he transferred to Houston when Art took that job.

Maybe it is woman's intuition...it's just a feeling that I have, but have never expressed on a forum.

Hook 'em!
