Glad you said this, because I REALLY thought u were basing a “national brand” based solely on a football program. Glad I was incorrect. As a university Texas is and always will be on top nationally. In the gay forum there’s a great article about this years numbers money wise.
I didn't know we had a gay forum.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.....

Got it.  We are only a national brand when we win football national championships.  That means little brother hasn't been one since 1939.  And they can't even say they are regional since they are a second banana (at best) to UT.  (the argument could be made that TCU and, yes, Baylor, has a superior football program)
By Embrey's aggy logic, Notre Dame isn't a "national brand" either

Hahahaha wooow. AGGY forum. I have to get better reading before I submit.
Honest mistake

Oh, Embry means well.  I like him.  It's just that aggy is going through a particularly rough time right now.  And you know it is somehow UT's fault.  :)

I should be clear on how I feel about aggy recruits going out of state.  I'm talking about Texas kids only.  Even though aggy can be unbearably whiny and bitchy, those kids still need to stay in state - aggy or no.  And I prefer they go to A&M rather than Bama, LSU or some other misbegotten school that is not of Texas.

The bottom line and as adults that have matriculated and gone on with our lives, we know that college is just that - college.  It is not the be all, end all of our lives.  As adults, we have put aside childish things.  Right?  We all have dear friends that went to TAMU, TCU, Baylor etc.  They are no less dear to us because of the school they attended.

I'm sorry - I am old and tend to patronize everyone for some condescending reason.  Forgive me.

But ya'll get my drift.

Screw that.

I don't care where kids go if it isn't UT. Watching aggy get their asses handed to them by Bama & LSU is one of life's great joys.

Texas is not just a national brand, its one of the most durable out there. This is proven by our football team's performance, those years we've had where we're not winning yet still outselling every program in the country in merchandise.

There's your proof and there's nothing that can trump it. Its real world.

The national brand gets bolstered in years where we do really well, such as the back to back years we appeared in the Rose Bowl and won both and a national championship. Players like Vince Young help that brand, too. Kids everywhere wanted to be Vince Young, bought his jersey, the skull cap he always wore, and so on.

It's good to be Texas. There's not another program out there quite like ours.

Ha, ha!  How do you really feel? :)

Of course, I'm sure there is not an aggy out there that doesn't feel the same about UT.

It's interesting how that cult is so brainwashed about UT.  Did you know that UT lit up the tower in maroon after the aggie bonfire tragedy?  Did you, also, know that the UT band played Amazing Grace at halftime during the game?  You do things like this when you are not filled with hatred and you aren't a collection of classless goobers.

On the flip side, I've not heard or seen a consoling word from aggy about our kid diagnosed with leukemia - twitter or otherwise.  And there is the absolute insult the aggy band gave us at the last game we will play - the marching to a sawing off the horns formation at halftime.  This, right after our band showed the real class by playing "Thanks for the memories".

Most of us won't forget all of this.

Agree the aggy band, band leadership, and university leadership showed they have no class at all with that episode.  Tucker sawed them off quite well at the end.

I read that one of the aggy bball players reached out to Jones.  Showed his support through twitter or some other social media.  But it was an individual thing not the whole university

I'm aware, Doc.

My attitude towards aggy has changed since their departure to the SEC. Their administration was deceitful, conniving, and disingenuous. I won't forget it.

Now you are getting me stirred up again.

And all the time they were retreating, they were looking over their shoulders saying we were afraid to play them.

This after we had just kicked their butts with a bandy-legged legacy who "ran down the goddammed middle of Kyle field like a newborn fawn trying to find its legs".  I put that last sentence in quotations as I stole it from another site and because it was quoted by a well liked Aggie named String.  And because it was so accurate.  :)
