*** National Signing Day 2014 Thread ****

Chris, I think he probably feels with Strong and the new regime here and the fact that everyone is starting from square one, that he has a legitimate chance. Strong does not really know Ash or any of the current players yet.

She also got out of him that he arrived at 4 am this morning

Yeah, all the QBs will be learning a new system, so Ash wouldn't have the built-in advantage of three years in a system.

Would be great but I don't see the benefit to Max Wittek. Ash is likely going to be given a medical redshirt for 2013 so he'll be a redshirt junior. However, Strong could sell him that it's an open competition for the starting QB. Either way, better than Case McCoy.
I would feel VERY comfortable with Ash as a back-up. Far fewer hits and absolutely no concerns if he is needed.

anyone who thinks Ash will just be handed the #1 job in the spring by a new coaching staff, especially given his injury history, is nuts.

Pretty cool

Exactly!!! Open competition for all positions! I wonder who will fill Fera's shoes at the kicking position.

I don't think anyone is really claiming that Ash is the Starter. I think most of us are just saying that as it currently stands, it's Ash's job to lose. Now he could lose that as early as Spring but it's currently his job to lose.

The Cache of being a BCS QB and being the Texas QB could go a long way for him in the NFL. I mean we consistently hear about the "level of competition" some of these QBs that are drafted and they aren't given the benefit of the doubt. That means they could be drafted into situations that aren't the best for them. So then they are out of the NFL in 3 years. If he comes to Texas, he will get noticed more than if he went to Houston.

Am I the only one on the board that does not like Ash at QB? He has flashes but the kid is not good. I don't know any other top program that would have started him at QB. Purely my opinion, obviously. Good kid, don't like him at QB.
