Monday Press Conference Thread

Saw this on another site. Wasn't behind a paywall.

Here's some disturbing perspective from a former UNC Trustee...

- indeed a circus. I have seen this work out terribly. Many years ago, UNC was going to fire Carl Torbush before the final game at Duke. The interim Chancellor and Provost told the senior executive team at a staff meeting on Friday about their plans. I told them they needed to fire Torbush that day knowing that Duke was terrible and UNC would win 50-0 and there would be a groundswell from the players to keep him. The Provost and other academics said "that is not fair to he players." I told them they were wrong! Of course, they didn't fire him that day, UNC went out and won something like 50-0 and the players carried Torbush off the field. With that groundswell, he did not get fired. UNC was stuck with him for another year before firing him.

Someone tweeted earlier just how masterful Charlie Strong is.

I mean seriously think about this.  We just lost to the WORST team in college football.  Broke a 23 game FBS losing streak.  First loss in 73+ years.

And yet the following Monday Charlie is hugging, smiling and laughing after the press conference.

Unbelievable.  I feel snookered.

I said some motherf##king idiot would tell us that Charlie is playing for his job against TCU.

You were right. I just didn't think we could possibly be that stupid. This administration continues to prove me wrong when I give them the benefit of the doubt in clear cut/obvious choice situations.

Murphy's Law at hand. We are going to beat TCU and Charlie will keep his job because of this fiasco and we will not only be the laughing stock of college football on the field but off as well. At least for another season

At this point, I will take the administration at their word that CS will be evaluated after the last game of the season.  I will also believe that all rumors and unnamed sources are not part of the administration and are starting all of this mess for their own agendas.

If CS is truly and properly evaluated, I believe he will be terminated and a new coach will be hired.  However, I am also aware that there may have been certain promises made with regard to the hiring of Gilbert and other assistants that the administration intends to honor which will bring CS back for at least one more year.  Those promises may have been ill-advised...but I cannot fault anyone for following through with promises made.

If CS is given another year, I will be his biggest fan and hope for great success.  If he is released and we get another coach, I will be his biggest fan and hope for great success.

Hook 'Em!!

I agree with this 100%!

I think the possibility that certain promises were made may very be the reason Charlie has not been fired yet.

If that is true, then I are far from impressed with the leadership of Fenves and Perrin. You never, ever paint yourself into a corner.
