McPhaul !!! Powers and Mack not speaking?

Seems like the special assistant would need to be on speaking terms with the person he is tasked to assist.

Deep in his soul, I suspect Mack hopes the next coach fails and in about year two after losing 3 or 4 in a row, he envisions a phone call from Patterson to come rescue the Texas program, much like Snyder did for KSU out of retirement.

This guy thinks that only he can make UT football great. Delusional.

Im not saying Mack has an input or will in any way be involved in any conversation about the next coach. Just my opinion, that he does not want the new coach to out do him very quickly. Yes he is on campus to prepare for bowl game but he isnt leaving after that. He will still be on campus. IMO, he will try to stick his nose in places and wont make life easy for the new coach, might wander into his office on a Tuesday afternoon and try to lead him down the wrong path/tell him things which might not be true. I think Mack is jealous and vindictive and wants the next coach to fail to prove its not all that easy to coach at Texas.

Mack needs to be outside of the 40acres, outside of Austin and maybe outside of the state of Texas.

I'm just adding fuel to the fire at this point but I wonder if the Bev Kearney allegations and lawsuit has any thing to do with the 40 Acre Soap Opera. Is it possible that Mack has some pictures? :D

I love this thread. It's like reading The Big Lead and Deadspin. So much drama. Maybe because I'm a girl.....

Doesn't sound like the "Special Assistant to the President" is going to have much to do on the 40 Acres. I like the idea of them not talking!!

I didn't include a quote due to the fact that I am replying to the thread as a whole.

Contractor: I understand your glass is half-full view, many people in my family were like that their entire life. I don't agree with it, but I understand it. To everyone else, following is a list of reasons that I don't think Mack will have any input in the coaching hire.

1) He has alienated most, if not all, of the BMD's at Texas. How many of these men do you think tolerate petulant, spoiled behavior in those that they do business with? Mack had a $2,500,000 buyout, which he reneged on, and if current information is to believed, negotiated a higher settlement to go quietly and reneged on that, as well.

I think he will pay for his dishonestly with friendship and goodwill - in a big way. Jamail may have been Brown's mouthpiece, but in the end, I would not be surprised if he wasn't simply trying to relieve The University of the liability that Mack Brown became.

Our BMD's are not weak-willed push-overs, and Mack cost The University or those affiliated with it $7,500,000 more than was contractually stated, if the numbers are correct, and he wasn't worth his salary the past 4 years, to boot. What an ass! That, my friends, is his legacy.

2) He cast The University, The AD, the BMD's, and President Powers in a bad light, in the national media.

3) He put his selfish interests above those of The University of Texas.

4) Whether he cost us the committee's first choice of a new head coach or not, he certainly cost all involved more time, more money, and a great deal more angst.

5) I have never known a successful businessman who wanted to deal with an immature, emotional, whining individual. Please. They just don't have the time, and just how many men enjoy dealing with extremely emotional people? Exactly.

Looking at the situation rationally, Mack cannot make amends for his behavior from the end of the season through December 15. In my opinion, he will be persona non grata on the 40 after The Alamo Bowl. He can work behind the scenes for ESPN, we can pay him what we owe him in blood money. He will wither on the vine for lack of attention.

We owe Mack nothing at this point. He threw it all away when he trashed The University and its interests.

Hook 'em!

An example of what i have been talking about is the Pat Forde Yahoo article. That was created by Mack. I expect more of this type of behavior. Not saying it will effect anything, i hope not. But I just dont feel people with his mentality, and nothing to lose anymore will just stop and go away. He has nothing better to do all day and especially after next monday. I dont think we have heard the last of that A-hole.

I hope I am very wrong.
