max wittek

I don't see any reason why we shouldn't go after him. If he didn't have any talent I don't think he would have received the D1 offers he did. Maybe the change of scenery will do the young man some good.

Guess he is good for depth. I heard he was case-like but have never seen him play. Can anyone elaborate?

6'4 215 #3 ranked pro style passer out of HS .. .

Under Armor player of the game. . .

what about that reminds you of Case?

Like the depth . ..wouldn't be shocked if he is a starter (I love ash but the injuries cannot be ignored). . .

Looks like a strong armed pocket passer from his high school highlights. Remember that both Kessler and Wittek looked terrible under Kiffen. He's got the tools physically. He's definitely a step above any marginal 3 star prospect coming out of high school and also better then any juco options. If he's great, he challenges Ash for the starting spot and provides another upperclassman at the QB spot. At the very least, he's got more tools to develop then last years starting qb.

It also allows Heard to redshirt, which is a huge plus and may even let Swoopes redshirt. Can you actually imagine a senior depth chart of

Ash RS Sr

Wittek Sr

Swoopes RS So

Heard RS Fr

Wittek is a prototypical pocket passer with solid arm strength. However, he seems to struggle with accuracy and needs to learn how to utilize that arm strength. Also, he tends to be a statue in the pocket and offers little mobility, leading to sacks. That said, I like adding the depth and a change of scenery could serve him well. Also, it never hurts to add some competition and hopefully it forces all the QBs to raise their respective levels.

Has Wittek shown any interest in Texas or is this pure speculation/wishing on our part? I would love to see the young man come to The 40

he said Texas is his first choice.

let's be honest, any addition fantastic news at that position. We need depth and competition. Ash has never been healthy for an entire season and has major questions coming into spring. Swoopes is extremely raw. Needs a lot of work. Heard is a true freshman. Strong, Wickline and Watson need more players to work with.

Wittek is a big strong pocket passer - lets hope Watson has a chance to work with him.

I hope that he does come here. We need depth at the position and this kid does have some tools. If Ash can't go then he would stand a nice chance to be the man. I hope we get the juco walk on kid too.

With a new coaching staff, this is the perfect time to bring in a transfer QB. Heard would benefit from RS and I really don't think Swoopes is ready to take over. Ash and Wittek can have a true competition for the job since the coaching staff has no background with either.

Watson recruited him while he was at Nebraska. Wittek would be a great addition to our roster and would bring healthy competition IMO.

I think burning the redshirt was necessary. there was no one behind McCoy. be pissed off that he did not play significant minutes. that Mack Brown crap sent Gilbert into the NC game with no significant snaps.
With a clear cut #1 QB, no program gives the back up significant reps.

we beat the crap out of people that year. no reason to keep the starter in until the last couple of minutes or to make the backup do nothing but hand the ball off so as not to hurt someone's feelings.

We'll definitely be more like the Louisville/Bridgewater offense with Wittek at QB. West coast passing. He's no threat to run, so Wickline can take the QB lead draw out of the playbook with him under center.

Be interesting
