Said he is not sure what he is going to be doing still weighing all his options. Did say he thought Coach Strong was a great hire for Texas and thinks he will do very well. He was frustrated with Mack for changing play calls and undermining what he was trying to do.

Wait, where did he say this?

So straight from the horse's mouth, Mack really was meddling, even more than I thought if he was actually changing plays. Precisely why I've disagreed with most about Major as OC. I wish we could have kept him in some capacity as he has always been said to be a great recruiter.

He and Chris Simms will be calling games for Fox next Fall.
Well....one will start the game and then get jerked for the other.....it'll last all season.

Its difficult to separate the prodigal son Major the QB, whom we all love and revere from Major the prodigal son who returned and didnt quite live up to the hype and expectations that went with the job..

Lets all wish Major the best in his future endeavors wherever they may take him

High level 2 says there's VERY little, if any, truth to this and Major is yapping his mouth trying to transfer blame for his f-ups to Mack. Mack doesn't care if he does this. He's sure as hell not going to stand up in an interview and give his side of all of this. What good would it do.

Who knows anymore? Was he CEO Mack, disengaged Mack, or meddling Mack? I can't reconcile it, but I guess it does not matter anymore.

Major is full of shit. The Major had free reign after the first couple of games. Comment like that are typical of The Major and reflect how he really operates behind the scenes.

And The Major is a good - not great - recruiter. Good because he gets it and makes the effort, but his personality ain't all that winning and he will never be an elite recruiter IMO. He does know the state now and that will be a very valuable commodity for some school.

Read somewhere that he had really turned off and lost respect of the players. Who knows?

He however, kind of sucked in post game press conferences.

If his name were Smith with his actual football résumé and hired as OC for Strong the reactions would have been a bit different.

A run of 48 yards in the Alamo Bowl followed by 3 straight incomplete passes by noodle arm is my last memory of him as OC.

He's lucky he wasn't fired for his indiscretion and embarrassment he caused the school.

A Head Coach is not "meddling" when he changes play calls or tells the OC what he wants to run. That is what HEAD Coach means. Major is all I and Me and is letting everyone know none of it was his fault. Goodbye and good riddance, IMO. I hope whatever he does in the future is at least 100 miles from UT.

I have wondered about this. . .clearly we hear both claims being made. . .but I do know that mack frequently is walking the sidelines without a head set. . .kinda hard for him to change plays without the head set on. .

Major as a QB loved the long ball. . .we threw bombs away a great deal . ..

My issues with Major went beyond playcalling though. . .I noticed we did not "scheme" our passing game to use combo routes very often. . .when we used them, , ,they worked great. . . Marcus' TD vs OU was a GREAT example of a combo route run well. . .

But our passing game seemed disjointed much of the time. . .it was not GD's "option passing" attack which when run well was virtually unstoppable . . .nor was it the OU or Auburn or Oregon scheme which ran off DBs to create open spaces. . .

This of course a cheap seats view with no "insider" info. . .just my observations from watching the games. . . .

PS, who was the grad assistant that was signaling in plays? He didn't seem to talk with Mack very often and barring telepathy. . .not sure how Mack could have changed the plays. ..

I'm not sure throwing your former boss, a boss that is nationally beloved, under the bus is such a good idea. With that said, I'm not all that surprised to hear that Mack was meddling as his job was on the line.

I do not recall seeing Mack Brown without a headset on, but if he changed every play all season, that is fine by me. he was the HEAD Coach.
