How many more embarrassing losses to teams as good as us will it take for Mack to go

The rumormill names include Pete Carroll, Gary Patterson, Chris Petersen and the usual suspects. If Mack leaves we need someone with some fire in them. Texas could go for Patterson and feel comfortable with the product. He has been at TCU for 12 years, his wife has ties to Ut and his daughter goes to UT I believe. Plus he can flat out coach.

Kelly will leave for the NFl before he goes anywhere else in the college ranks. He makes too much money and has it cush in Eugene. Patterson is a likely candidate should we be in the market!

Ya I really wish we could have mustchamp back
I'm down with that too. Look at what he has done at Florida.... Guy is nails.

Pete Carrol would be terrible for UT. Look at what he did for USC... Did a whole lot of winning and then got a whole lot of wins erased. I feel good about Gary. We need fire and intensity and a coach that will hold is Coordinators accountable instead of making continuos excuses and promises. BBDUDE I am trusting you and hope like hell you are right.

Oh and just wait for the sanctions and NCAA to come down on Oregon. I dont want chip kelly anywhere near UT. One thing I like alot about Mack is he runs a primarily clean program. Everything I am hearing about Oregon is that within the next few years Oregon will come crashing down.

The allure of Pete Carroll is that he is a master recruiter and, while is not Mack Brown, he is a CEO type instead of a purte x's & O's type guy. Bellmont likes that......

Rumor has it Patterson turned down the Arky job because he is interested in the UT developments...

I agree, Carrol is very tempting if you look solely at the numbers. But what he did to USC is not something that I would like to happen UT. Carrol is all about the money with complete disregard to rules or doing things the right way. He broke every rule he could at USC and jumped ship as it was sinking. One of the things that I love about Mack is that he is the old school "yes maam I will take care of your kid" kind of coach. The last of a dying breed which is giving way to a generation of coaches that doesnt care at all about players as people and only see them as a check/pawn and will ditch them for a bigger check in a heart beat. Develop great young men and great football players... It has been done and can still be done.

MAck had it all when he came to UT - the swagger, the fire, the desire to win..... Now? Not so much. The game has passed him up I am afraid. You know he and Sally have to talk frequently about hanging it up. The stress must be overwhelming and it will only get worse with the fans and boosters. Looking at this team now it is hard to predict when we will be back on top. Mack is good for one more year, if that, but I think he steps down after the season and Gary Patterson is courted like a King.

I am hoping he makes a good decision in the best interest of the program and not the emotional decision to hang on for another year which I fully believe will be just as disappointing. This is another case of not knowing when to hang it up... I want him to be remembered for the great things hes done and not for the light years below par last 3 years. Dont make it 4. I think another year like this will do a ton of damage to the program as a whole. If Patterson comes in and isnt successful right away he gets a pass of sorts. After 14 years Mack isnt gonna get another pass. Players are going to realize his words are empty and nothing more than good talk. Leaders lead, talkers talk.

Give Mack the humanitarian award and hire a real football coach. Dear Lord this is the University of Texas and not Texas Tech. We have everything at the snap of a finger and we won't have it for long if we keep losing recruits to TCU and winning 8 games a year. I don't want to hear this cyclical winning crap and every team has losing cycles because WE'RE TEXAS. Times have changed and so have expectations.

Time for Mack to be retired before the recruiting gets insane bad. Make him a saint or fire him, I don't care, just beyond time for him to fix this mess.

Mack will be back next year. Don't see anything that will change that, unfortunately.

I thought a K-State loss would seal his fate but a loss to Beaver definitely does.
