Ketch & Suchomel are reporting that Luck to Texas is not a done deal and that there are some who are opposed to it. Sounds like we have some conflicting information for sure.

Of course they are, and there is not one candidate that will please everyone. Im content to see this thing play out with the knowledge he is the likely replacement.

What I read is that they were saying it's not a sure thing, which is correct. They are not denying that he is the most likely at this point.

They are right, there is a contingent that prefers Steve Patterson.

In the end, it appears that Luck will be the man.

The good thing about this is that Saban has a better relationship with Patterson than he does with Luck.

Is Jurich at Louisville out of consideration completely?

I have no preference between Patterson and Luck. I want someone with experience in upper management like they have running our athletic department. I know more about Luck because he's been more out in front over the past year or two, but either of them would be upgrades in my opinion.

I like both Luck and Patterson. They need to interview both guys and maybe a third and figure out who the best option for Texas is. Both Luck and Patterson have ties to Texas are currently ADs and would do well? Committee and Powers need to decide who is the best one, post interviews.

From a guy who supposedly works in Bellmont

Overheard multiple times over coffee this week: "Andrew Luck's dad talks too much."

It is very simple at this point: Luck is practically begging for the job and is telling the media at West Virginia that he getting the job. If Texas wants Luck, he's the next AD. Some with important voices are not in favor of Luck to begin with and they don't like feeling pressured or anyone assuming that Luck has the job because he's already telling people to warm up the moving vans. We should know more by the end of the week, but I've been told there are other candidates that are preferred.

Also, Chris Plonsky is done. Possibly out of the office by January.

Is Luck and Saban like oil and water, where there could be a problem? Or is it just not as far along as Patterson/Saban?

All indications from people I talk with say Luck will be the man, and would be SHOCKED if he isn't the man by the WVU/Texas game. Not surprising that some like Patterson are in the mix, but in the long run Luck should be the man.

I am happy Plonsky will be gone, needs to happen.

I definitely don't think Luck/Saban is oil/water, infact rumors of them having a good relationship.

Very good relationship.

Does this mean we are consolidating the athletic department, something we should have done YEARS ago? I've been advocating for this for a very long time. There's no good reason why the departments are separate. We are the only school in the country with separate departments. Even some of the PAC schools who have 491 sports don't have separate departments. Purely a waste.
