Like everyone here Chip does the best he can to do his job (just like you). So let the man work as we are all on the same side. Only problem I have with him is he's a Lions fan.... and who the hell roots for the lions.

He's reporting to a bunch of rabid message board fanatics, it's not like he's in print in SI. He can only expect so much patience and respect from his audience. And the only problem I have with him is that he often talks down to people. Other than that, he's so money and he doesn't even know it!

My thought is, what else would you expect him to say, especially if they are trying to keep him, which I'm sure they are.

Chip is one of those journalists that WILL get more than one confirmation before running with a story. He is professional. I can't say that for a lot of today's internet "journalists." He swings and misses sometimes, but not verifying info from sources would not be his Achilles heel.

I generally agree on Chip, but in this case, it seems obvious that he would seek comment from the L'Ville AD and run it in his story.

I don't think it's obvious. I think if there were an opportunity to reach out to the Louisville AD for comment prior to the story, he may, but unless his "sources" included the Louisville AD, what kind of comment could the AD offer that would be pertinent to the initial report? Just not sure I'm following your line of thinking BGR.

It depends on how his employment contract is constructed. The contract may require permission - if it did and he interviewed anyway, he could be in breach.

Don't interrupt Dizz desperately searching for confirmation of the Saban pipe dream. Anything other than Saban doesn't compute for him so he needs every little data point get even hints it's still possible. I'm enjoying the DizzG show as you should also.

This!!! People can dog Chip all they want. He is a journalist and not a blogger. He wouldn't run a story without confirming with multiple sources. The responses on this thread are similar to the post on the OB many get tired of. He is reporting what his sources told him. Strong doesn't need Louisville's permission to speak with Texas. That is more of a professional courtesy. Why do so many hang on the word of every update and in many cases give knee jerk reactions? This is a process and the situation is fluid. Just sit back and enjoy the ride and trust that Patterson will make the right choice.
