Longhorns in the NFL: Week Eight
In week eight of the NFL season, 35 Longhorns were on rosters and two were coaching, representing a total of 22 organizations. Here is how they fared:
ARIZONA CARDINALS
• OLB Sam Acho started and had two tackles in the Cardinals' 24-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
• C Lyle Sendlein started up front and helped the Cardinals gain 400 yards in the victory.
• Alex Okafor started and had two tackles, including one for a loss, in the win.
ATLANTA FALCONS
• OG Justin Blalock started at left guard for Atlanta in a 22-21 loss to the Detroit Lions in London, England.
BALTIMORE RAVENS
• PK Justin Tucker went 3-for-3 on field goals, including two 50-plus yard kicks, in a 27-24 Ravens' loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Tucker also added an extra point, and now has 75 total points on the year which is the third most in the NFL. He is now 18 of 21 on field goals for the season and is a perfect 21-for-21 on extra points.
• CB Chykie Brown was inactive for the second week in a row.
• CB Aaron Ross is on injured reserve.
BUFFALO BILLS
• S Aaron Williams deflected a pass, made a tackle and had one of four Buffalo interceptions in a 43-23 win over the New York Jets.
• WR Marquise Goodwin was inactive for the game with a hamstring injury for the second consecutive week.
CAROLINA PANTHERS
• RB Fozzy Whittaker was inactive with a leg injury in Carolina's 13-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
• CB Carrington Byndom is on the practice squad.
• RB Chris Ogbonnaya ran the ball one time for 9 yards in the loss.
CINCINNATI BENGALS
• OG Trey Hopkins is on the injured reserve list.
CHICAGO BEARS
• DE Lamarr Houston started at defensive end and had four tackles, including a sack and another tackle for a loss, before suffering a torn ACL in a 51-23 loss to the New England Patriots. Houston was placed on the injured reserve list and will miss the remainder of the season.
DALLAS COWBOYS
• DT Henry Melton recorded three tackles, all for a loss (including two sacks), in the Cowboys' 20-17 overtime loss to the Washington Redskins.
• OL Donald Hawkins was inactive for the game.
• DT Chris Whaley is on the injured reserve list.
• OT Tony Hills was active but did not play in the loss.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
• DE Cory Redding started at defensive end and recorded six tackles in the Colts' 51-34 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is tied for second on the team in sacks with three.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
• DT Roy Miller started at defensive tackle in the Jaguars' 27-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins and recorded one tackle.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
• RB Jamaal Charles scored two touchdowns on 117 total yards from scrimmage (73 rushing, 44 receiving) in a 34-7 victory over the St. Louis Rams. For the year, Charles has 462 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns.
• LB Derrick Johnson is on the injured reserve list and will miss the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles tendon.
MINNESOTA VIKINGS
• DS Cullen Loeffler successfully snapped for Minnesota in a 19-13 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
• DE Brian Robison started in the win, recording three tackles (including a sack).
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
• S Kenny Vaccaro started at safety in the Saints' 44-23 victory over the Green Bay Packers. Vaccaro recorded a team-high 10 tackles in the game, and is second on the team with 39 stops on the year.
OAKLAND RAIDERS
• CB Tarell Brown started at cornerback and recorded three tackles for the Raiders in a 23-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
• LB Emmanuel Acho started at inside linebacker and recorded a special teams tackle in the Eagles' 24-20 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS
• S Adrian Phillips is on the practice squad.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
• PK Phil Dawson and the 49ers were on a bye.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
• S Earl Thomas had nine tackles, including one for a loss, in the Seahawks' 13-9 road victory over the Carolina Panthers. For the season, Thomas has 42 tackles, which is fourth on the team.
TENNESSEE TITANS
• S Michael Griffin had eight tackles, including a sack, in the Titans' 30-16 loss to the Houston Texans. On the year, Griffin leads the Titans with 58 tackles, and is tied for the team lead in interceptions with two.
WASHINGTON REDSKINS
• QB Colt McCoy started at quarterback in the Redskins' 20-17 overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys. He went 25-for-30 for 299 yards and one pick through the air, and added 16 yards and a touchdown run on the ground. It was his first start in three years, and the second-straight game he led the Redskins to victory.
• LB Keenan Robinson started and led the Redskins with 10 tackles, including a sack. Robinson now has 68 tackles on the year, which leads the team and is eighth in the NFL.
• Brian Orakpo is out for the remainder of the season with a torn pectoral.
• LB Jackson Jeffcoat was inactive for the win.
