Austin Todd from Round Rock High School just pulled the trigger. Todd is in the class of 2016.

At 6-1 & 170LBs, you wouldn't expect a player like him to be able to drive the baseball. But, when the bat makes contact with the baseball the sound that it makes coming off of the wooden bat you just know that it is leaving the ballpark.

It was during the 2015 WWBA 17U National Championship out at Lake Point, Georgia where he made coaches stand up and take notice. During the event he batted .429 with 3 home runs and 7RBIs. Todd was doing this against some of the better pitchers in the '16 Class.

This is not when the Longhorn Coaching staff took notice of him. Going into his Junior year at Round Rock, he was expecting to lead the Dragons from the lead off spot. But, those plans were derail as during the Showcase camp out at the Disch Falk Field back in January, He came in hard at 3rd base and his foot got caught up under him. By the time they had carried him off on that Cold, rainy day, his ankle looked like a cantalope was attached to it. (JoeyWa was there that day)

Nice work Don as always.

I was able to talk to Todd  for a few minutes tonight. He's really excited about playing ball at the next level.

On Saturday, the University of Texas baseball team received a commitment from 2016 prospect Austin Todd, a versatile player from Round Rock High School.

Todd announced his decision to commit to the Longhorns on twitter this afternoon.

"It's an awesome feeling, playing D1 baseball is something that I've been dreaming of doing as a kid. And for it to to be at a prestigious place like Texas is a dream come true," Todd told HornSports.

Todd selected Texas over Vanderbilt, Dallas Baptist University, UT-San Antonio and McNeese State. While he pitches, plays outfield and infield at Round Rock, he tells us Texas is recruiting him as an outfielder.

Playing high school ball right around the corner from Disch-Falk, Todd tells us he is eager to join his teammates on the 40 Acres next year.

"Can't wait to play there and represent the University of Texas!"

Todd plays summer ball with the Austin Banditos.

Thanks for posting the good news, Don. Always great to hear that talented baseball players will be joining the

Longhorn Baseball Team.  I hope he has a great Sr. year at Round Rock and I look forward to him being a

big contributor to the winning tradition of Longhorn Baseball!

I remember that injury Don at the January camp.  It was a tad nippy that day.  :D

I haven't looked for UT players specifically, but, D1baseball.Com has great write ups on all the summer leagues. Kendall Rogers and Aaron Fitt does a great job with all things college baseball even the summer stuff. Even if Kendall did go to aggy.
