RHP Blake Goins has opted to transfer to a Junior College. Likely landing spot will be San Jacinto Jr College.

There is a ton of back ground info on this that led to his decision. This was his decision, not the coaches.

Best of luck Blake!

2-sport kid from Kennewick, WA.

2018 I believe. Younger than what we generally see in our games. I'll poke around a bit and see if I can find out where he plays his summer ball.

Just got word that Andy McGuire will also be leaving the program. Andy is headed to USC Aiken which is a Division II school.

Yep. It's a great move for Andy. He will have an opportunity to reset and get some quality looks there. Solid coaching staff and they've had some players drafted including a couple this year.

The D2 route means that he doesn't have to sit out a year and can play right away. There was some interest from D1 schools but sitting out a year is not what he wanted.

He will get time at SS, 3B and likely see some innings in late relief.

Best of luck to a great kid and his family. They're good people.

On another note, I am hearing that Andy wants to come back to Texas and complete his degree. Kid bleeds burnt orange and ya gotta love that about him.

Good luck to McGuire. I became a fan of McGuire when he moved to the mound and didn't complain at all.

Does anyone know if he's going to continue to pitch or move back to SS/3B?

Both from what I've heard.  Will play either SS or 3B, and will probably get some late relief opps on the bump.
