Lil Christmas Info

Mcphaul, I assume you have multiple sources but I remember a Crossfire about 4-5 weeks ago where Fishers name came up and your source ABSOLUTELY shot down the thought of Fisher being a candidate for UT. Something about how loosley the FSU program has been run, player misconduct, etc..

Have I missed something? Or are you talking to a different source now? Not trying to disagree with you, just hard to understand how such a 180° turnaround on Fisher is possible if the previous Crossfire I mentioned had any accuracy on this subject.

Victory, you are wanting assurances that simply aren't available to me or mcPhaul.

Nothing outside of a phone call to Sban himself is going to sooth your mind.

I've shared what i know. You can take it or leave it. Doesnt matter to me.

Sirhornsalot, I think people really need to chillout. You and McPhaul are only relaying info you hear, as stated numerous times before. They need to realize the only difinitive answer for them will be a press conference for the announcement. , like alot of posters here appreciate yours, Mcphaul and others time to give us some info on what ya'll are hearing

What is a tier 2 coach? Because many of the tier one today were once considered tier two.
A (2) second tier coach is not a bad thing. I just mean the top guys might not be available. I would consider the coaches from Lousiville and Duke as second tier. Below the Saban, Miles and the like..

I dont want a coach to be named today. I want them to continue to pursue Saban and Fisher both and a third. Our top option is Saban but nothing is ever done until after the press conference and after he is in office. Saban and Fisher are both grand slams and should lead Texas to many playoff births. Pursue both!

I get what you are saying, but it seems every post is followed by one backing down from the previous one. I question nobody here, but I have always questioned unnamed sources. Plus, if this site ever gets to the level we all hope it will get to, there has to be some accountability. If we become a site of wild speculation, we will never be a go to site. Of course in my opinion.

Valid point

my personal question would be if Saban has actually signed the contract and, if so, is there a clause allowing him for whatever reason to back out at the last moment. Perhaps something has actually been signed, but yet there is some process still allowing for that to change at the very last possible moment (?)

Like another poster, I really have no idea. Just speculating how something can be, in essence, "done" but still have that slightest, narrowest of wiggle room.

I too am very appreciative of info passed on from inside sources. Having said that, I'm totally fine with not hearing a thing if it's not to be given out to us for any reason.

Agreed. .is this my old friend uni? if so. Merry Christmas and haven't heard from you in a while. . .speaking of friends. . have you heard from DND in awhile? I cannot raise him . .hopefully he is OK.
McPaul,

Does this mean Harbaugh is no longer an option (yes, I realize a long shot. . .one can dream). . .
Cheese never met you but you have a Merry Christmas as well.

There is no backdown here. That's what I can't get you guys to understand. I've not changed anything ive said.

Mcphaul and i just try to deliver what we hear.

The pecan pie i just ate has the same effect on my stance as the Mack thing.

You guys got an update on one thing and are trying to make it affect another thing.

Im not privy to who signed what - but I've made it crystal clear that i think something was put in INK. The impression i got left me thinking that.

It is called a contingency plan. One that we did not have in place before. I baffled on why this is so hard to understand?
exactly. I dont see anything in your original statement that suggests anything at all has changed with your report on Saban, but you should always have a backup in case something gets sideways. Its smart business

reporting Texas basically doesn't want to get caught with their pants down and are being smart by having a backup plan isnt backtracking at all. You realize Saban can be telling Texas, Sexton, and others around him its a done deal...im coming after the bowl so set things up etc but until Texas has him in the building for the press conference its smart to be prepared for ALL outcomes. That doesnt change whats being said re Saban its just news on Texas trying to be smart and cover their bases because as we know things have been crazy lately

It seems people are hanging on every word Mcphaul is saying lately and trying to catch him backtracking or putting out some BS. I dont really get it but it is what it is I guess

Why is it so hard for you to understand that when you use phrases like "100% Saban is the next coach", "Saban to Texas", and "Saban a done deal"... it means that there is no need for a contingency plan because it is certain that it will happen. This is the 2nd time you're back tracking. If Saban is a "done deal" for a 2nd time now, why is there a need for a back up? Unless it's not a done deal?
There is always the possibility of accidents. Think of it as a form of insurance, a good business practice.

Hopefully, if something is already signed, there is a buy out clause attached, because if there isn't that leaves the door open for a last second flip flop. But, then again, that could be exactly why Fisher is a contingency plan.

So an announcement is to be made between Jan. 3 and 6th. How could it be Jimbo Fisher when his team is playing that night of the 6th.? You would have to announce after that game if it was to be him. All this waiting and names being tossed around like lottery numbers in a hopper, pull one out and name the new coach. Who is it going to be?

I'm not doubting anyone either and I appreciate the info that is posted. After all that is why I keep coming back.

That said I also get a little confused when in one post I see "Merry Christmas - done deal" and 2 days later another post that says Jimbo is getting his ducks in a row for a move (and he asking coaches if they would like to move to Texas seems that things are a little more developed than simply a contingency; I mean, how does that conversation go if you are Fisher?).

And yes I get contingency plans. Honestly I'd be baffled if Texas didn't have 3 or 4 other options in play.

But like others up here I tend to take things at face value, so "done deal" means what it says.

Thank you again for posting the info. But forgive me that I choose to keep it to myself at this point rather than email blast all my friends.

I understand......contingency plan......so we get such & such, but if not we will get stuff & stuff!! :P

Guys, while we scored a TD with Saban, McPhaul is simply saying jumbo was ready to score when the clock ran out.
So if the TD with Saban were to be called back (no reason it would right now), we know we could insert Fisher and get a TD if we had to.

We scored. And so far, no need to review the play.
Now I know what you did here!!

Now this is a positive great post........In a way I think Fisher would be a bigger HR with the coaches he would bring.

I think Jimbo would be a great hire, but curious as to why you feel he would bring better coaches with him than Saban?
