Is it me, or is the Mack Brown resignation part of a media-driven ploy to add value to LHN?

I mean, who else has plans to watch the 2013 Football Banquet tonight at 6:30 unless you're tuning in to hear what Mack has to say? I doubt very seriously that he resigns tonight. Doesn't want to take attention "away from the kids".

Maybe Bellmont schedules a press conference exclusively on LHN to announce Mack's resignation next Monday or Tuesday?

Why not?

Could be...with the dozens of folks who actually get the channel it could be a ratings bonanza.

I am one of the privileged dozen, and I have a message for you all. Suffer bitches..

I don't see any way that Mack announces anything tonight unless it pertains to the team or the bowl game. He/they will make sure that tonight is focused on the team and the past season, nothing else.

If/when Mack does step down, I don't think that will be carried solely by the LHN. It will be such huge news that ESPN will carry that live on the mothership.

I, too, have LHN. And I can't wait to see what new Austin restaurant Augie covers for his show each week.

I am the privileged dozen #2 and I am watching this evening to see any break through.

They would almost have to do it on ESPN. Mack has been a top story on Sportscenter the whole week and they even dispatched Holly Rowe to camp out near Bellmont.

Ah...didn't know ESPN had a foot soldier in ATX already. Thanks!

People are saying that LHN dissolving is an indication of us leaving the big 12. I'm wondering why this couldn't be interpreted as a step in the direction of creating a big 12 network and eventually expanding the conference

it's just speculation from people on Twitter. Having studio shows pulled from a network does seem like a big deal though

ESPN is cutting back across the board
I wonder what an ESPN buy-out of LHN looks like for UT financially?

I haven't been impressed by ESPN's commitment to providing original programming on LHN, anyway. I'll only miss Longhorn Extra during football season.

We may expand the Big12 conference, but it won't be due to launching a league network.

Reality is the market is over-saturated with sports programming now as it is. Olympic sports don't move the ratings dial and cable companies are reluctant to pick up another channel. The ACC won't be getting one either.

Beginning of the end?  It's a guaranteed contract, let them slice and dice.  All access and other shows will be missed, but not Longhorn Extra.
