Let's talk about Beer

I'm jumping ahead of my next piece, but "Bevo" is an alternate form of "pivo" which is Slavic for beer. Budweis is a town in the Czech Republic that has been brewing beer for almost a millenium. People from Eastern Europe wonder why our mascot is named "Beer." Probably because no one in Austin knows the Slavic word for "weed." ;)

I've had the "original" budweiser in a movie theater in Landstuhl Germany and I've heard Czech beer is some of the best.

This is my favorite. What is yours?

Living here 6 miles south of Blanco I've made a couple of the tours they have at the Real Ale brewery on Fridays. They give free samples and I like the Blonde. They had a couple of dark beers I didn't care much for. Might not be a bad spot for site members in the Austin/San Antonio area or anywhere else to meet some Friday, make some new friends and compare notes on all things beer and Horns.

This sounds like a damn fine idea.

Ive had the Apple Ale. Really liked it.

Jerry, youve got to get a Real Ale if you come down here.

Circle Brewing has been putting out some good stuff. They are a relatively new brewery to Austin and Specs has just started to carry their beer. Envy Amber is particularly good.

Yep it's a good little spot. I'm excited because what used to be Reillys BBQ next to the Bowling Alley is reopening either this weekend or next I think.

I liked Riley. Got along great with Steubing too, but when we had lunch he almost always wanted the bowling alley.

I'm a fan of the expensive, high end type beers. I have classy tastes.

Bullshit. That's a lie. Miller Lite and a bunch of it.

Talking about beer is a lot like talking about women it's fun at first then you're ready for the real thing..Yummy
