Herman has ties to Texas as he was a former GA here at one point. Given Strong's ties to Urban you'd have to think if he looked that way he'd have a good idea of what we are getting. The biggest question with him is just how much control he has on the offense with UM looking over his shoulder. I love how they have used Miller who I think is very similar in skill set to Swoopes.
No way are we going to pay Morris' buyout and then have him leave in a year or two. He could be in good position for the Louisville job for starters.
I think Porter would be a good hire to stay at RB coach. He's done a great job with the running backs this year and his recruiting prowess is great. Give him the ability to pretty much go and get whoever he wants wherever he wants and I think he will really shine.
Joe Wickline is the OL coach at Oklahoma State and worked with Strong previously. Wickline would not look our way in the slightest when the opening came up a few years back, but maybe Strong will get him to change his mind. We'd probably have to give him some kind of Assistant or Associate HC/Running game Coordinator title and pay him $500-600K a year to have a chance, but he'd be worth every penny. Currently makes around $400K at Okla State. Oh yeah, and he's a VERY good recruiter of the East Texas area.
With his current DL coach Hurtt not being an option to accompany Strong to Texas it makes a lot of sense to bring on a guy like Ed Orgeron to replace him as both the DL coach and recruiting coordinator. Hell, Orgeron might be even better, especially after the season he just had as USC's interim coach. Letting that guy loose nationally on the recruiting trail representing Texas would be very scary.
It appears as though Strong will bring his current DC Vance Bedford and LB coach Brian Jean-Mary with him. Also, his strength coach Pat Moorer.
I'm not sure who he might look to bring in as TE coach or WR coach, but there are some good ones out there.
