Thiggy, start the thread.
Sorry, y'all - the baby woke up and the wife and I have an arrangement where she sleeps from about 8 - 3 and then I get some sleep. The baby woke up and was fussy about 11 so I couldn't post.

I think DM has addressed the questions and confirmed my thoughts, so I don't see the need to start a new thread.

Alabama, keeps stating to all "that they shall match any sum that Texas projects". Do they actually have the means.... as per their BMDs? Will we be viewed as arrogant / assuming to think that they cannot match Texas? Just what is the reality here?
I have heard the Paul Bryant Jr. has publicly stated that he will help do whatever it takes to keep Saban from coming to Texas. While Alabama does have some alums with bank they do not have the bank roll that we do from our donors. And McPhaul hit the nail on the head (been discussed in another thread), but Saban has gotten into some unsuccessful real estate ventures from some of Bama's BMD's and they don't have the ability to offer him other ventures to offset those losses. With Texas he has a number of opportunities to subsidize his salary with markets that are far more stable and provide a much larger ROI than real estate, namely oil and gas.

Re: Bev Kearney situation. I have also heard that there will be some sacrificial lambs served up (fired) in light of any new and damaging information that comes out. Plonsky and a football coach were the names I heard. This would be done to "save face" and show that we have cleaned house. This would also take an arrow out of the Kearney camp quiver. Then the men's and women's athletic departments would be consolidated under the single new AD.

Thoughts?

Popcorn is in the microwave...

Maybe, maybe not? Texas makes more money than any other school thanks to Deloss Dodds.
Let's not kid ourselves, Red & Joe have been in Macks corner. Doddds could not have made any changes even if he wanted to.

Texas will always be the Belle of the ball in college football. This story has not written itself.
Has there really been a shift in BMD power away from Red and Joe? Red's not getting any younger so I can see him taking a step back; however, from the little that I know about Joe from lawyer friends who've worked with him and his recent "I'll sue" threats I don't picture him as someone who's willing to take a back seat to anyone on an issue as significant and personal as replacing his client. Is there any chance that he's waiting in the wings to try and complicate the hiring process, especially if Mack is somehow able to win out?

Joe is a fire cracker. I was told he says stuff like that and thee next minute he will say what do I need to contribute to the new coaches salary?

No Brother,
I didn't give you the answer you wanted to hear. I understand that. However, you are a smart guy, how would you have me answer your question when I am a Level 3? You better look long and hard if you want some one to give you a 100% on something they have no control over.

Do we understand one another?
What does level 3 mean?

utparothed, Red is 86....Joe is 88. They are both really getting up there in age.

What is a conduit mean in this context? are there any other levels?
Garch, someone who passes on information that has been shared with him by people who are either Level 1 or Level 2.

My opinion

Level 1 Info comes directly from the person who made whatever decision. (ex: Mack Fires Manny.. Mack tell me first. Mack is level 1)I am level 2 here

Level 2 Mack tells BMD. BMD is Level 2. BMD tells me I am Level 3

Oh levels are degree of separation from the source. Got it. The telephone game always has interesting results

Level 1- Work for the programLevel 2- BMD

Level 3- Conduit
I was wondering what that was as well. Figured I just missed the new code talk thread or something. Thanks for the explanation.
