Late Night Hoops: Texas v. Stanford Game Thread

64 - 60 with 5:00 to go ... this is turning into a nail biter.  Time for a gut check.

Taylor is trying to do too much. He needs to settle down a bit.

Texas squeeks this one out ... good game to watch, but Texas should have put this one away.  Taylor had a great homecoming with 26 points and 6 assists.  Cam Ridley had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Cam is averaging a double double on the season.  Snoop Roach had 14 points and 3 assists. Lammert had 7 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Onward to face the UConn Huskies at the Drum Tuesday night at 8:00PM.  Be there or be square! ;)

PostScript -  Pardon my enthusiasm for attempting to move the UConn game up an entire week - In spite of my enthusiasm, UConn has informed me that they refuse to show up a week early for our showdown at Club Erwin ... some trifling nonsense about a game tommorrow against UMass-Lowell and a game Wednesday against Central Connecticut ... some other nonsense about too much travel ... when I told them that coming to Austin was NOT like going to Shanghai, they were not impressed ... Oh well.  Poot!

Six wins in a row. Nice. Especially on the road against an improving team like Stanford.

We may have turned the corner folks. I sure hope so. Shaka's offense is so much more fun to watch than what we've been used to.

UConn Tuesday night will NOT tell the tale ... they are showing improvement like us.  A win on the Tuesday night AFTER this Tuesday night will set us up well for conference play.

If you are confused by this post ... go back a couple of posts and maybe that can help clear up the confusion ... or, NOT.

Here is the game winning shot by Isaiah Taylor ... Clutch!!!  ;)

Looking back on that play this morning, I am very impressed by Taylor's judicious use of his quickness and timing under control.  Three maybe four three and a half trees had at least a chance to take a swipe at the ball.  It is not just that Taylor is the quickest player in D1 ball as some have intimated, but how he chose to use that quickness ... makes me wonder what could have been if Mycke Kabongo had had that kind of judgement in how he used his quickness.

... ANY WAY ... as I read on another board ... think about it ... the Longhorns are undefeated in the USA!!!  ;)
