This guy is the most interesting recruit still on the board IMO. I'm not sure if he even still has an offer based on some of his off the field behavior. I think he's an elite athlete but I've always questioned his ability at QB. So far this year he's looked pretty good at QB and I'm starting to change my opinion on his QB abilities. It's sounding like Texas is looking to take 2 QBs in this class, so I'm kind of wondering if Ketchum becomes that guy. Granted, if Ketchum doesn't get his behavior in order this obviously won't be an option. Still it's an interesting recruit because there's a lot of upside with this guy.

I was a big fan of Ketchum's based solely on some highlights I saw posted. I cooled after being told by more than one person that had actually seen him play that his passing skills were way below average. Therefore I could see him playing a skill position or defense...but don't want him as a QB. I most definitely want us to employ a dual threat QB but Ketchum is not that guy.

And of course, he has to overcome a bad boy reputation to even be considered. I can't see it happening after what Charlie had to go through this year.

At one point I was a firm believer that Ketchum should not be recruited as a QB. My thought was Ketchum is an elite athlete but not a QB. I've talked to a few people that said he's significantly improved this year in terms of passing. My buddy saw him play a couple weeks ago against Port Arthur where he ran for over 100 yards/two touchdowns and threw for 2 additional touchdowns. My friend said he looked like an elite QB that could be successful on the next level. Don't get me wrong Ketchum needs to improve even more in the passing game, but his upside is pretty significant (we've seen the improvement from last year to this year in his passing).

I think Locksley is a better player but I really don't think there's a huge distinction between Locksley and Ketchum. Matter of fact, their rankings on 247 were similar until Ketchum took a hit due to his off the field behavior.

Granted, none of this matters if Ketchum doesn't get his behavior in order. It will not surprise me a bit though if Ketchum ends up being our second QB in this class if we see a change in his attitude.

I could be wrong but I think Bobby Burton said that Ketchum was the top QB on the Texas board until his behavioral issues became well known. I think that pre-dates Charlie's arrival.
