Just some thoughts...

Nuu posted on OBs that one of Patterson's directives was to get Saban, but "if we can't get Saban, then the AD will make the pick and own the pick. Powers won't be in the way. BMDs cant fight over it. Needs to be vetted through search agency. Private investigators will check every bit of the guy, so we don't make a O'leary/ND mistake."

Nuu said Patterson was told to not let BMDs scuttle the process.

Certainly seems like Patterson tried for Saban, couldn't get him, and so he followed through on what he was told to do. It's his call and his neck on the line.

I am not leaving HornSports and I am staying as long as HornSports wants me as a member, but you guys have lost it. I thought a least 90% of us were grown ups, but my goodness I was wrong. I am behind the University of Texas, my AD, my Football Team and my new Coach to be. If the Coach gave assurance that he would bring in the best OC, DC and rest of the position coaches (if he used that quote to procure the head coach position) then he needs to do it and not bring in all his existing coaches. Other wise we as HornSports Family need to have a "Mentality of a mature adult" on this site!

Hook'em

BMD's are acting like children by throwing temper tantrums and putting themselves ahead of the university. Just hope they realize their influence and actions could very well be significant factors in Saban staying at Bama, which says a lot considering the level of passion at Bama. They need to take a time out, put some ice packs on those bruises and get behind the program.

This post has sour grapes written all over it. Nothing objective about a statement that we "should be prepared to be frustrated with an erratic offense?" Do we know who the OC is gonna be? Strong is an old DC correct? To start claiming that our offense will suck without A) Strong even accepting and B) knowing who will be calling the plays, is laughable at best.

You guys missed on Saban, let it go. Letting that fact infect your posts negatively on our potential new coach is not productive. An objective analysis would be good instead of others' opinions of an OC that is not even hired yet. I don't buy for one minute that you know that Patterson got nervous and pulled the trigger. That is pure speculation. It is just as likely that he thought that Strong was the man for the job. Sources = Speculation. Knowing that, you cannot honestly be surprised that things didn't play out as you expected.

My guess is 90% of the fan base (maybe more) doesn't even know what is going on today and 100,000+ will fill DKR later this year cheering as they always do.
Personally I will be waiting to see how this all turns out before judging.
That 90% is going to be in for quite a shock when they are expecting to see Mack and see Strong. I may have to buy a ticket for that if you're right. :)

Yep Patterson did this on his own. He will live and die with this decision.

Everyone is sure blaming the BMDs but were praying they would force Mack to step down when they thought Saban was coming.

I thought Mcphaul posted a big selling point was strong would be able to hire a dream staff?
He's bringing just guys from Louisville? That's very hard to believe
With all the NCAA violations Strong should stay and protect his guy.

I have been saying that Patterson went rogue & got blasted this is just further confirmation that my feeling are correct
Your interpretation is correct.

Pretty sure you won't have any issues getting tickets... Probably for cheap so enjoy!

Mack Brown waddles in on the last 24 hours (or perhaps its Sally?)--

I will believe he brings his whole staff when I see it. No offense shaunsters but it seems you are letting your dislike of strong color things a bit. He's in no way a disaster as a coach and not remotely close to that.
The BMD pulling donations needs to calm down a bit. All this crying will go away if strong wins.

Funny thing is nationally this morn I've been seeing a lot of guys like this hire. Yet the people who think they run the world hate it. Go figure
His staff is NCAA violators ... That's a fact.nationally liking the hire... Um of course ... We won't be a contender, they love to see Texas fail. I say fail not because of CS but because of the situation that DeLoss put us in, coupled with the circus that continues with Patterson. This entire thing just smells bad.

No we were praying that the AD would do that. AD had to change for Mack to be out.

That's the way it should be. Texas needs to stop being beholden to egomaniacs that care more about their personal imprint on the program as opposed to the results.

My theory is that BMDs may have influence in getting a coach fired, but they have little, if any, influence in getting a coach hired. Truthfully, there was much time wasted talking about what BMDs were saying and doing. I think some of the information from BMDs was leaked by guys that wanted Mack fired in order to stir the "common man" into a "hate Mack" frenzy. They were quite successful in those regards.

It's mildly interesting that several of the Insiders that were calling Saban almost a certainty are now throwing out the idea that Powers possibly blocked Saban or that Patterson went "rogue". That's ridiculous. Each time Saban has said "no", there's always been an excuse..or possibility of excuse..or explanation...for why he said no. Truth is, it's not Mack"s fault and it's not Power's fault that we didn't get Saban. He was never coming. He wanted more money from Alabama and got it. End of story.
