Just some thoughts...

LOL. Love the doom and gloom before anything has even happened and a new HC has coached their first game.
No kidding. This stuff is getting ridiculous. People are just throwing out shit now because they didn't want strong. Omg the university is about to crumble!!!'

I'm with Linux.....if there are people out there who want to vote with their $$, let them. But they should do so publicly so we can know who they are. We can play that game as we'll......

See my post. Strong needs to bring the right staff with him and Patterson needs to hold the line there. This could work, but there are a lot of risks and Strong and Patterson are not going to have 5 years to make this work out. Stakes are going to be high and patience thin.

I'm guessing Hicks is the pissed off bmd.
It's not just one...it's pretty much all of them. That's a very dangerous situation for both Patterson and Powers.

What we got is another Mickey Mouse search that chose a third tier coach with zero head coach experience in a major conference and a botched roll out of the announcement.

Appreciate the info and I'm sure some aren't happy. Some BMD pI rob need to be knocked down a peg but regardless I don't think strong is a bad hire at all
He's actually a really good coach. I wanted saban too but uT will be fine
I agree with DizzG 100% here. I know many aren't happy with the hiring of Charlie Strong, many BMD's included. Instead of everyone continuing to whine about the hire I would rather are fan base and donors get behind him. If some BMD's are butt hurt because they didn't get their way then so be it. Some of them need to be taken down a few notches anyway and realize they don't control all aspects of Texas athletics. I preferred Saban or Fisher as well, but feel Strong will do fine at Texas. At least give the man a chance to coach his first game before everyone jumps to conclusions.

So Patterson is looking like a bust right now! Rushing to hire a guy that was 5th or 6th on most list because he got nervous. Really? Nervous that we could lose out on Strong?!?! Wow. Get ready for a new HC search in a few years guys.
Some of you are too much! Hyperbole much? This is Patterson's first hire and he hasn't even stepped foot on the 40 Acres much less coached his first game. And somehow both he and Patterson are already deemed failures. This is what most of our fan base looks like right now.

Oh hey thanks for letting me know I don't get an opinion on this disaster of a hire! But hey as long as you're happy with it, all is good!

Didn't say you don't get an opinion. But stating that Patterson is a failure and Strong is a disaster hire without seeing any results on the field is pretty ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I would have preferred a coach like Saban or Fisher. But to state that our AD is a failure and the new coaching hire is a disaster without seeing any results on the field is short sighted at best.

If the BMD is that butt hurt needs to have a little perspective and calm down. Sounds like a petulant child who didn't get his way. If he loves UT then he should still support it even if he didn't get his way. The most important part is Mack is gone and a new regime is coming in. I for one will welcome whoever with open arms and support.
Personally have never believed Saban was an option (especially after signing the extension) and not sure anyone could convince me otherwise. Not knocking those reporting it as an FYI just my opinion on the matter.

Coaching hires are a crap shoot. There is zero guarantee even Saban would be successful at UT (my opinion ids he would be but nothing is a sure thing in coaching).
We have several really big BMDs and BMDs run Texas. Always have and always will. If they are pissed at Patterson for going a different direction, his life at Texas will be hard and very short. The tail does not wag the dog. Especially at Texas. They forced out Dodds and Mack with Powers to be next very soon. Patterson needs to embrace this or leave. We can all argue about how dumb it may be, none of that matters to them.

Are you another of the famed "insiders" here as well that have been so tuned into the goings on in the program? I'm having a really hard time keeping up with who is and who isn't "in the know" around here anymore.

You're perfectly free to voice your opinion, along with everyone else here. This doesn't immunize you or anyone else from criticism.

Count me in with those who find the doomsaying a bit premature.

Ok let's say it I am being shortsighted. That's my right. My gut tells me this is a bad hire and based on a lot of other comments by folks here I am not the only one who feels this way.

Unless one of the BMDs are getting info directly from Patterson I could give two shits what they have to say. They are the problem here thinking their opinion is the most important one, as well as their loose f##king lips. Most of these inside sources are probably only talking about the conversations with their buddies about what they want to happen not what is really happening.

First off I want to apologize for not being around last night... I had a personal matter to take care of... Tied me down from about 7-12.
I know a certain BMD is not happy about the strong hire at all. Chances are he will most likely pull his donations. Mad is not even the right word he is livid.

Strong is not the right hire, it's a rushed hire by Patterson cause he was feeling the heat and nervousness that he might missed on Fisher and Saban. I love what Nuuf posted on Obloods basically confirming what we were reporting for weeks. Yet got laughed at. Texas was still on Saban up until like NYE. Then things got quiet. All the BMD besides Jamail wanted Saban. Patterson got nervous, which he shouldn't have. You have to stay strong. Worst case he could have gotten Gruden.

Patterson got supported by the bug guys to get Saban or a big name. Then he settles for Strong and his whole sub-par staff. There are a lot of unhappy people right now. How dare Bellmont leak the strong info when it wasn't finalized.

Strong will most likely end up as coach. But the stuff in the background is as unsettled as ever. People are not happy with Patterson.

Thanks everyone for being a part of Hornsports and realizing we post what we here when we here it.
I have been saying that Patterson went rogue & got blasted this is just further confirmation that my feeling are correct

I don't think people feel this is a bad hire, I just think people are disappointed that the person hired isn't some big fish coach. Do you honestly believe Strong will undoubtedly fail, or are you just sad/mad/upset that it isn't Saban, Harbaugh, Gruden, or some other huge name thrown around?
