JS on OC candidates, Red, and more

Frost is consider a rising star and future HC, probably Nebraska. If we could get him as OC with a two year commitment that would be a hire I would be excited about.
I get that, but he coached defense until 09, where he was WR coach at Oregon until this season, where he was the OC. Maybe he learned a ton from Helfrich and Kelly?

The OC hire is critical. I'm confident on the D side of the ball, but we need a really good OC hire to get this ball rollin'

This is true. We need a solid oc that can identify and develop qbs

Obviously Frost is a year or two away from being a head coach. Even if it seems a lateral move, wouldn't there be a value in being at Texas and getting himself known around the high schools in the state?

The perception is Frost's offense is a product of Helfrich or Kelly. Why not come to Texas with a Defensive Coach and prove you know how to run the offense and develop QBS? Wouldn't that make Frost more of a known commodity for a HC job?

Just the thought of Frost in Longhorn gear makes me chuckle. The Cornhusker nation's collective heads will explode.

I wouldn't mind Frost. But he's definitely a worry when it comes to hiring a proven OC. He would be a badass recruiter though. At Oregon he has Helfrich there to help him if he ever needs any assistance, while that would not be here at Texas. It would be a splash though.

I'd want Herman ahead of him for sure. If he says no, then I'd put Frost there with guys like Norvell from ASU and Lincoln Riley from ECU on the next level. I really wish Strong would give Riley a look. He's from the Leach tree and was brought to ECU by Ruffin McNeil when they both left Tech a few years ago. He's a very good one IMO.

How certain are you Red__7 that Herman wants to be back in Texas? Seems like he would be top on the list then.

OB is saying that it sounds like it is a long shot to land Tom Herman based on what they are hearing. Basically he thinks his next stop is a HC gig.

Although money talks!

Todd Dodge is the darkhorse here. I think he would be great as OC/QB coach.

He's basically Malzhan, except for the 4 year test run as North Texas coach.

I pray Burton is wrong this time!

"I believe that Louisville offensive coordinator Shawn Watson will likely be the next offensive coordinator of the Longhorns.

Watson is said to have interviewed for the head coaching position at Louisville. But if Watson does not get the Louisville job, I am expecting him to call plays in Austin next season.

To be clear, I am not reporting this is a done deal.

I believe Watson is the way the OC search is headed.

I'm told that Strong has been understandably pleased with Watson's work calling plays for him the past two seasons. Say what you want but Louisville is 22-3 over the past two seasons with Watson calling plays."

Did he develop bridgewater?

Yeah I really hope Burton is wrong. This is not the conference for him as OC.

He was the OC at Nebraska last time we faced them. Previous to that he was the OC at Colorado, like when we trashed them in the Big 12 championship.

What happened to the ass star coaching staff Strong promised?

I don't want UL staff, a few are fine but no more than the DC, LB, S&C. That's plenty.

Why should Red be meeting the new Coach. I would think that CS would have a ton of things right now more important then meeting a rich ol guy that did not even want Coach Strong here.

Think I need to look up "ass star" on urban dictionary.
