That Chambers will not possibly be here after NSD.. Don't know if true but will be interesting to see. He posted it within his "Boot Camp" thread.

I can figure that situation happening.....Just for a driver/show/where the recruits. Did not think of that before this thread.

You know that the thought did cross my mind when the hires were announced. I thought maybe he would be here to make initial introductions and then he would be reassigned. I thought about it again when Strong made his comment yesterday about Chambers scheduling lunch and Strong telling him they were not going to eat lunch. It was a small insight into why coaches clean house. Established coaches get comfortable and lazy.

I find this a little hard to believe..couldn't Strong have pink slipped him and kept Wyatt or Major to do the same and actually kept them on the staff...

I think it would be Brewster as its known that he wants to come back to Austin but, more importantly, it's been said that we didn't want him to come before NSD because that would put FSU in a bad spot and Brewster wouldn't be as willing to come and Strong didn't want to screw them like that.

I had the exact same thought watching the PC. If we get Brewster, then we become a recruiting juggernaut.

Hopefully Brewster comes back in early Feb but why would Brewster wait till then? Coaches dont normally do that. It would make more sense to leave now and recruit for the team you will coach.

I just want Brewster back to Austin!

To respect the process at FSU and let them keep their recruits until NSD.

The above is the rumor I have heard as well, not connected....I just read this on OB in what sounded like a what if scenario. I would love for this to happen.

I have actually heard the same thing, plus Chambers will be retained, but in another capacity.

So far, given the lack of rumors panning out, I think with Strong you're getting what you see.

Either he values Chambers more as a TE coach then anyone else or he wants some continuity and connection with Texas high school coaches that he thinks Chambers affords or some other reason.

Personally, I don't get it. Recruitment and development of the TE position has been atrocious over the last couple years with big misses on players (Amaro, ASJ, etc) as well as an inability to develop the guys we got in (McFarland being the chief one). I don't recall a single stud recruit that Chambers was the top recruiter on. From my simple, untrained eye, he was not the guy I'd have retained from the old staff. I could see him being a 1 year hire to get the new staff grounded. I can't see another reason why he was retained over guys like Applewhite/Porter/Wyatt.

However, I retain the right to dream of post NSD move to the another role with Zook coming on as ST/RC or Brewster coming back :)

I had really hoped that Chambers would get replaced. Since he was not I am hoping that maybe it was something else holding the TE position back. Doubtful, but one can hope.

Give me Brewster or Derek Lewis from Florida. Either of them work for me.

That or let Koenning coach the TEs in addition to WRs and then go out and get a Zook type to just do special teams.

TE were not used in the scheme really...if you don't use them as anything more than fullbacks, then all they do is block. If all they do is block..TE w skill aren't going to commit. Texas wasn't recruiting play making TEs. If you watch Boise, they rarely use the position as anything more than another lineman. Well when Harson was the OC he had a specific type of player in mind for the position. I can coach a guy up to be at his best, but if he skill set isn't a player makers skills set, well hey, he isn't going to make plays. The tight ends did what they were asked to do, block in the run game. Now I will say, they missed with McFarland, he was big and fast, but a project that failed. Chambers just doesn't forget how to coach, he may not be awesome, but TE, like RB isn't a position that needs heavy hands on coaching. TE usually spend time with the linemen doing some of their blocking drills and w the receivers doing their drills. If Texas had of lucked into a Finley type of player and he had done well, most of you would be singing the man's praises. I wouldn't be putting a lot of stock in any of these rumors...
