By "hopefully the drama will subside" means he will flip to Texas then I'm on board. However, I'm sure Patterson won't let him go so easily so the drama is about to ramp up.

Don't know why, but I can picture Patterson being an asshole when it comes to kids flipping and I can picture Strong, while being dissappointed, still wishing a kid all the luck. Maybe that's just my burnt orange colored glasses I'm wearing.
