Major realignment is upon us.I am not convinced the Big 12 is going to survive or even be a big time player. Should we just suck up our pride and join the SEC. Pretty sure they would take us in a heart beat. At this point I say why not? Lets discuss.

WOW. The LOnghorn Network... Texas A&M is now a member..... It would shake shit up for sure. Not our style though. Academics are not anywhere near the standard of UT.

Not even worth discussing. The Big 12 has a 13-year Grant of Rights (GOR) in place that will prohibit any school from leaving. Right now, the SEC and ACC are the only conferences who don't have one in place. Looks to me like the ACC is most vulnerable b/c SEC is too lucrative. Golden hand-cuffs.

If we wanted to join the SEC, we could've cut A&M out of the deal. We weren't interested in any league but the Pac-10. Better fit culturally and academically. They wouldn't allow us to retain the Longhorn Network. Deal killer.

Interesting thought but I don't see it happening. I actually think the Big 12 is stable for at least 5 years. Only changes may be adding two more teams, but there aren't any teams that really stick out right now. I think the conference is fine. It has pretty good athletics across the board too, not only in football.

We wouldn't go SEC. B1G or Pac12 I could see, but the GOR holds us together.

The only way I see a failure anytime soon is if they somehow let Kansas slip out and open Pandora's box.

Clearly, at the moment, The Big 12 is the weakest of the Power conferences.

How is the Big 12 "the weakest of the power conferences"? I trust that you don't include the ACC as one of the powers, right?

LOL shame on you for mentioning power and ACC together.

We are right now. Least proactive, still have schools bitching, etc. We need to take an offensive approach and press our rights like the B1G and SEC

Well in terms of power there is the SEC and everyone else. So the Big 10 and the Big 12 are on equal footing.

B1G is garbage football! I hate it I hate it I hate it.

Big 12 is equally stable and financially in GREAT SHAPE. NObody is leaving for another 10+ years.
