Gameday atmosphere has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the circus. Good food, good tailgating, nice facilities, fewer commercials, convenient trash receptacles, prompt shuttle service from parking areas, and other conveniences contribute to gameday atmosphere.
Another value add: for early season games, put the $20,000 per game toward offsetting the cost of bottled water so that fans can stay hydrated. 1 bottle per ticket. Track it electronically.
Final random comments and suggestions:
1) I loathed jetpack act. It was a distractor, circus act, that had no place at a college football game.
It was too loud, even in the upper deck, west side. I am older, and it was too loud, for children, it could hurt their hearing.
For teens and early to mid 20's, I have no idea, I think years of headphones with music turned up incredibly high, for many their hearing is already damaged.
2) Jetpack contributed nothing. Nothing about it said Texas, or was patriotic, or got the crowd involved.
3) I love to watch warm-ups before the game, the band and Texas flag come into the stadium. Why do we need to add circus acts?
4) Install wi-fi, and turn down the damned Godzillatron. It is too loud. Early in the season, it was turned down. Later in the season, someone ratcheted it up. Screw that. Turn it down. Why does the AD want to drown out the band?
5) Want to see the worst of CFB, see the atmosphere at nrg-Reliant, Everything piped-in, no room for college bands, cheerleaders,
or fans. The atmosphere sucked, and it had nothing to do with the result.
6) Patterson, No mrg-Reliant Atmosphere @ DKR, E.V.E.R! We aren't the pros, we are The University with great tradition. Use it.
Showcase it. Show it off. Now!
