Its time to fire Strong

All signs point to Strong being back.

It will be interesting to see what he does with the offensive staff. That's gotta change or 2016 will be his last season.
Assuming Strong is back, which I think he will be, I think what he does with his offensive staff could very well make or break him.

He will greatly enhance his chances to succeed if he gets the right Offensive Coordinator/Quarterback Coach in here and tells him he can choose any OL coach he wants.

But if he goes for the comfortable/conservative hire, which I expect him to do, he will be fighting an uphill battle.

You're about the most miserable fan I've ever come across (and I grew up in Chivago rooting for the Bears/White Sox) - what's the point? Do you derive any joy from watching or reading about Texas football?

Even in the darkest days of Bears football (the last 25 years) I've had optimism and excitement for the team.
I honestly don't give a rats how you feel about me. I'm so miserable I will renew my season tickets again and attend every game next season. How about you?

IDK about Big Mike, but I haven't derived much pleasure from UT's performance this season outside of the Cal game.

We lost, but it was entertaining

So are going to be at DKR next Thursday? I will be like I always am. I love when other fans like to question other fans why they are fans or read about Texas football.

You are miserable JB just because you expect excellence from your university.  :D

It's been a ROUGH season to watch, but it's been nice to see some of these freshmen make big plays.

Also, the more I've thought about it, this is just part of a serious rebuild. You see it all the time in sports. I love Mack for the championship that he brought us, but I hate him for the state he left the program in when he finally walked away. The program rotted for years and the cupboard was left bare by the time Chuck stepped in. Couple that with losing the one legit QB Chuck had in the first game of his first season as HC, and you have a recipe for disaster.

He also didn't help himself with some terrible calls as far as assistants go, but hopefully he comes to his senses after the season. That said, we don't know what limitations were in place when he went looking for assistants. If Patterson really was a cheap prick and didn't want to give him money to hire a legit OC, then maybe he did the best he could. Again, if this really was an issue, I think that issue is now gone with Perrin in place.

I've been a Cubs fan all of my life, so I guess I'm just used to how ugly it can get. The Cubs had their run from '03-'08, the window closed, and they had to rebuild. They were awful, but replenished the minor league system, and now they're in an even better situation than I ever could've imagined. After going through that, maybe I'm a little more lenient on giving Chuck some time because he's having to undertake a legitimate rebuild. Texas isn't "Texas" anymore, but that doesn't mean he can't get back there.

Neither Strong nor Miami have informed me that they have communicated with each other.

One thing about it, whoever they bring in to run the offense has to be right. No more thinking it might work. It HAS to work. We've been bad for too long. This has to be a slam dunk hire. I think Strong is going to end up with a very good recruiting class. That combined with all the freshman that played this year and we should be bery much improved.

I didn't question whether you were a fan or why - rather I asked why you're so miserable as a fan.

Oh, and congratulations on your perfect attendance record.

After reading Chip's report and hearing Perrin's interview it sounds like we are just setting the stage that if Strong leaves Texas can say they gave him full support to reset his staff etc but he decided to leave. This is not over at all.

I'll be down and gladly pour you a glass of excellence to ease the pain.  Although, I don't think Tech will be painful.

Actually I am not miserable at all. But I do expect excellence from the 6th highest paid coach in college football.

Also why is Strong telling Miami he would accept the job?

We are better off debating who the OC hire will be...

:) Don't let #Sources get the better of ya.  Hopefully he pulls a quality OC, that shouldn't be difficult to do with a three year guaranteed contract.

I dont know anymore.  Cant figure out this team.  They Whip up on OU then no show vs a door mat team.  What made it worse was to watch Sedric Flowers cutting it up and laughing after the game with Iowa State football player.  Some of these guys dont look like they give a shit if they lose.
The core of the team are true and redshirt freshman.  Texas is the youngest team in D1 FBS.  Growing pains and missing those 9+ players who could have made a difference who got dismissed.  Not to mention the loss of David Ash.
