Its time to fire Strong

No reason whatsoever why this year's team could not win at least 6 games and it's not unrealistic at all to have expected to win 7 games this year. After all, this team could very well be 5-3 right now. Next year's expectations should be 8 wins.

What you can't have is regression. And that's what we have right now. That being said, I'll stand by what I've said before and that is that Charlie should definitely get a 3rd year. Unless we lose to Kansas. While I don't think that happens, if it does then Charlie should be done at Texas. Period.
The reality is UT's liberal administration probably won't fire its first black HC after only two years, barring a calamity - a loss to KU.

To NTG's point, I expected progress not regression in Year 2. This season has been a disappointment. I can't think of a good reason for a offensive skill player to come here. Thank God for Buechele!

Great post. I think you're 100% right. We can't see regression again next year. At this point, 2016 is eight+ wins or bust. Charlie gets a flyer this year because there has been a lot of lower classmen growing pains. But he'll technically have Juniors that he recruited out there on the field next year. It'll be time to show that drastic change is on its way.

I think you're slightly underestimating the desire that an 18 year old baller has to be the star of the team. Not to mention, Buechele won't be alone. Warren has shown flashes of greatness in his few opportunities thus far. Burt has been exceptional when we actually pass to him. And two of our better lineman are freshman. Our offense has been terrible throughout the season. But they have incredible potential if we can get another player or two to help mix it up.

Your first sentence is just not in touch. The liberal administration has jack to say about this. The people who send them millions, do.

That said, while I've not been told differently by my source, I'd imagine this KU game has an asterisk by it as I type. He loses that one, I would expect him gone by end of day Sunday. And they would be justified in doing so.

If we lose to Kansas that loud earth shattering sound will be the bottom.

Then why, pray tell, did the BMDs not have a bigger say in Strong's hiring in the first place?

By most accounts, Patter$on and the UT administration "went rogue" with the hire by not consulting with the "people who send them millions" - including the disenfranchised Red McCombs.

And by most accounts, BMDs were ticked beyond ticked because they thought they had an understanding with Patterson. Patterson didn't go rogue. Patterson just did what a GM does, move on to the next guy. UT expected him to pistol whip Saban with money. He didn't.

Do you honestly think that will ever happen again? Who do you think put Perrin there?

That doesn't change my point - Strong wasn't the BMDs guy.

My hope is the BMDs use their overwhelming influence to get the right guy at HC if Strong finishes 4-8 or worse. I'm not emotionally invested in his future here. Nice guy, but maybe not UT material.

No, he wasn't. And I explained why that will never happen again.

I really hope it doesn't happen. I'm in Strong's corner. But they don't consult with me lol. So I'm right there with you, whatever is best for UT.

Charlie is a good guy, but what amazes me about this coaching staff is how we never seem to make adjustments and then constantly blame it on execution.  I have seen people post on here about how great some of these coaches are for example "Bedford posted a top 20 defense" but when the defense sucks its always blamed on the players.

Its like a broken record every post loss conference.

0-11 when the other team scores first.

I like what I hear about Charlie Strong the man; not as pleased with Charlie Strong the coach.  I hope he decides to take another job this off season to the mutual benefit of UT and Coach Strong and we end up with the current University of Houston coach.  If Coach Strong is given a third year, we have got to start winning on a consistant basis.  What happened at Iowa State should NEVER happen at UT.  PERIOD.

Today's Dallas Morning News sport section states that TCU is number 2 in the nation in terms of starting and playing either true freshman or red shirt freshman.  They have played a total of 30 kids 15 being true freshman, and 15 being red shirt freshman.  Rice is number 1 with playing 31 who are either true freshman or red shirt freshman.  Texas did not make their list,

Youthful PoniesSMU has played 22 freshmen this season, tied for 15th nationally. Teams playing the most freshmen (including true freshman and redshirts):

Team Total True Redshirt 1. Rice 31 10 21 2. TCU 30 15 15 3. BYU 28 16 12 3. Clemson 28 14 14 3. Florida Atlantic 28 16 12 3. Florida State 28 14 14 7. Boston College 26 16 10 7. N.C. State 26 16 10 7. USC 26 15 11 7. Wyoming 26 16 10 T-15. SMU 22 11 11 On Twitter:

I've seen this a couple of places with respect to TCU's youth. However, having an established QB that's a Heisman candidate goes a long way in helping offset that issue.

Awesome.  How many of them are starting?  How many are playing significant snaps?  Is their QB a freshman starter?  How about their LT? WR #1? MLB?  DB's?

Texas problem isn't that 'a lot of freshmen are playing'.  Texas problem is that the best players on the team - at the most important positions - are Freshmen.  Thats absurd.  Now add in that those freshmen are playing the toughest schedule in the NCAA and you have a recipe for disaster.
