Its time to fire Strong

Idk how TCU is doing today.... But last week, they almost lost with that backup QB...to Kansas. Let me repeat... KANSAS. The same team that our backup that everyone thinks should move to tight end scored 5 (was it 5?) TDs against. Not EVERYONE can just plug in a freshman QB and have success.... We only hear about the ones that do because the freshman that get plugged in and struggle don't make the news.

Yup, then again they almost beat the sooners with a backup.  Since you brought up the hapless Jayhawks look at the 2 bottom teams.

You have to also consider the supporting cast around the young qbs.

I know which includes Watson, Watson, Watson and don't forget Watson.  Norvel may be calling the plays but this is Watson's shitty offense and his QB development.  I know Strong wanted a slumber party with his best pal on the 40 acres but Strong should have fired Watson last year after pigs pummeled us.

I will say that the supporting cast that is on the offensive side of the ball has enough talent to be better than ranked 93 in total offense.  This is where Coaching comes in to play and being able to properly evaluate the talent and skill set that you have. It appears to me that Coach Strong and his entire staff wasted most of offseason, and two-a-days running Watson's offense to only be thrown out what by the 4th game of the season. They saw how bad it performed at the end of last year and yet they chose to stick with the same Offensive scheme and I doubt that it looked any better in Spring football than it did at the end of 2014 or fall of 2015. If it did look awsome in Spring ball then something tells me that the team is just going thru the motion during Spring football which is why this team is not getting better...uuuuhhhhggg now I am getting frustrated. The more I think about all this the more my story of what is happening in Austin changes. Now I am starting to believe that Charlie did and does want the Miami job , but they are just not interested in him being their Head Coach as they already have their top 3 picks selected as to who will get the job offer.  I don't even think he could get the University of Central Florida job which is currently open. Why would you hire a Head Coach whose team ranked in the bottom of all colleges for total offense production especially at a program such as the University of Texas.  I agree with everyone else how come so many other programs are able to insert true freshman into games and continue to be productive and even excel with their offense.  If we lose to Tech and get blown out by Baylor as many other have said then the talk of a buyout is going to be ramped up big time which is not good for recruiting.

KInda frustrating to know that Baylor's 3rd string QB is better prepared to play and win than anyone on UT's roster. TCU has gone 3 deep, too.

Now I am starting to believe that Charlie did and does want the Miami job , but they are just not interested in him being their Head Coach as they already have their top 3 picks selected as to who will get the job offer.  I don't even think he could get the University of Central Florida job which is currently open. Why would you hire a Head Coach whose team ranked in the bottom of all colleges for total offense production especially at a program such as the University of Texas.

That's what it's starting to smell like to me, too. Look for Miami to hire favorite son, Mario Christobol.

All we heard during the spring was they were improving.  Its so difficult to believe the Strong and staff couldn't see this in the Spring, only to admit a change is needed after ND.  As if 2014 TCU and Arkansas games wasn't enough to convince them.

I think (just my opinion) the reason TCU and BU are able to "plug and play" other QBs is because they have had their offensive schemes in place for years. Their coaches have been teaching their systems for many years and have become very proficient at it.  That has not been the case for us.  We have changed our scheme twice in the last year, moving away from Watson's pro-style to a more uptempo pro-style to Norvell's version. Just my two cents. Point out any weakness in my arguments that you feel are warranted.

Norvel has added a few wrinkles but this is the same offense scheme for the last 2 years, Watsons.  Up tempo or not its basically the same with the same result...bad.  

Pretty interesting though why a head coach would come to Texas knowing most high schools in this state run the spread, or some version of it, with a Pro Style OC Watson and a spread, gap control OL coach like Wickline.

I know Strong preferred the Pro Style ball control offense, but that's a odd choice for the Big 12.

Maybe, but he and some others will try and say that we need to give them at least two more years and the new OC will need that amount of time to get his system implemented and with his recruits. I am starting to figure out how this all works.

I dont put much faith in Charlie's offensive mind or his offensive scheme preferences.  He is a defensive coach and looks lost when talking about the offense.   He needs a proven spread OC and let the guy run with it.

The hiring of the right OC could turn this around in a hurry. Need an example? How about Auburn 2009 under Gene Chizik, who few would argue was among the worst head coaches in all of college football (but a pretty good DC). He hired Gus Malzahn, then they bought, I mean recruited Cam Newton, and ran the table to win the national title. It can happen just that quickly. If Charlie can hire the right guy, and maybe add the QB from TVCC, who knows how 2016 could play out? We know the defense will be a year older and should be better next season with these young pups. The OL will return 2 damn good players, and Buck Major will have an impact next season, too. If Charlie makes the right hire at OC (a huge, huge if for sure), the results could be dramatic. And if he doesn't get the right OC, he'll be gone after next season.
