It Begins.... (2017 Fall Camp Thread)

They absolutely went thru S&C prior to Herman. To be fair we typically hear these things when new regimes roll in. Was the same way with the previous staff.
Yea after multiple players it started to feel like fall camp kool-aid again.  I remember how the players used to call Shawn "Cool Cat" Watson the QB whisperer.

Are there any stats to prove the team is actually stronger this fall camp?

I remember hearing something about Malik Jefferson was able to bench press more than he could squat.  I believe Herman mentioned it in a Spring PC.  I dont remember the exact story though but was shocking nonetheless.

I realize most of this kool-aid is to pay omage to the new coaching staff but sometimes its hard to filter the BS from the legit news.

Its hard to project results when the staff has not coached here yet and our players have played awful the last 8 or so years. HOWEVER all i gotta say is one word .. MENSA. Herman will figure it out and go down as the all time winning-est coach in school history. MARK MY WORDS. HOOKEM

I read that Beck has a foot fracture. Not sure about C. Brown. The Beck injury is devastating because of the Reese suspension. Thank goodness for the grad transfer. Brewer and G. Gray will have to see the field now.

Did Beck and C. Brown get injured today?
They did. Foot fracture for Beck. Tight end position really couldn't afford injuries. It's all hands ok deck for real now.

Don't think Brown's injury is as serious, but he is going to miss some time.

IT is saying Chris Brown injured his ankle, will probably miss about 2-4 weeks.
It's a high ankle sprain, so that seems right. Hope he makes a speedy recovery, because I'm looking forward to seeing him make some noise between the white lines.

Doc Longhorn can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think foot fractures aren't nearly as serious as breaking other limbs. I've had one myself and was back in no time. This will be weeks, not months.

You miss Beck because of course he's good and he's experienced. But we should be fine. You game plan with what you've got. Plus, we have some athletes who can play multiple positions. I'm sure Herman will move someone over for depth. Who knows, maybe we stumble onto a TE. Too bad we didn't try one of our QBs there last year. lol

SHA for a D1 OL they are pretty bad. They weigh alot and this tends to screw up recovery. I fractured my foot my junior year. I was out for 3 months.

Fairly certain Beck has injured his foot before, I think a fracture. These can have delayed healing and are a risk to derail his season.

I have an idea.... Flex Lil Jordan and let him create havoc on defenses.

I'm not sure the TE position is that important in today's college football unless you have one who is a true dual threat, receiving and blocking.  Seems like opposing defenses and coordinators wouldn't have difficulty matching up if your personnel package has TE's who are adept at only one skill.  An offense can surprise you from time to time, ex. goal line situation, but I think if you have to be thin at one position, TE would be the one I would choose if I had to.  Hook' em.
