Is Al Golden in play?

He just said no to PSU.
Is he on the UT Radar?
Ummm where did you read he said no to PSU? All reports indicate he is the lead candidate and I see no media reports of him saying no yet.

And if Al Golden is on UT's radar I quit as a Texas fan. Miami was extremely suspect this year.

Short answer: No.

Report: Al Golden offered Penn State job, expected to take it

Al Golden

Well, that certainly escalated quickly.

Mere minutes after it was reported by various media outlets that Al Golden would be one of at least two FBS coaches who would interview for the Penn State vacancy, CaneSport.com is reporting that Golden has been offered the head-coaching job with the Nittany Lions. More importantly if you’re a fan of either program, Golden is expected to accept the offer, the Rivals.com website reported.

The site wrote that “Golden’s representatives were working out the final details with Penn State on Friday afternoon.” According to previous reports, Golden and Penn State were set to meet about the Nittany Lions vacancy at some point today.

There has been no official word from any parties involved regarding this development.

“Miami officials were laying the groundwork for a coaching search Friday while awaiting final word from Golden on his decision,” CaneSport.com wrote in lieu of official word from The U side.

Golden, who recently completed his third season with the Hurricanes, played his college football for the Nittany Lions and was on Joe Paterno‘s staff in 2000 as a linebackers coach. Following Paterno’s firing in November of 2012, Golden was mentioned as a potential successor.

My sources say that he's staying put.

You should hear by tomorrow through normal media outlets.

He is not on Texas radar but if I were his agent, I would put his name out there for every single opening. Thats how the business works.

Now reports from Philly that he has been hired.

Someone ask McPhaul who in the hell will be coaching Penn State, will ya?

Once their sanctions are lifted, the right coach there will make that school a Juggernaut flagship.

That's a sleeping giant, right there... Paterno was holding that program down for 20 years...
