Everyone post your thoughts from what Justin told us his source told him that Deloss Dodds does not want to go through another coaching search, so his plan is to retire in 2014. Which also means Mack Brown is likely back at least two more years and will probably retire when Dodds does in 2014.

If he retires before the football season of 2014, then Mack has next season only. Sounds about right and Mack could become athletic director.

If Texas wins a national championship next year do you guys really think he leaves? Hell-to-the-NO.

Mack will not be the AD. He may stay on as a special assistant or something but AD no. He will not want to work that much.

Agreed on the Mack as AD thing. I think he retires a rich man and continues to support the program in another capacity. He will always be a part of Texas Football - much like Coach Royal.

Well he wants Mack to get it turned around to at least competing for BCS bowls and national championships. Now if the Horns win out, they will be in the Top 14. That makes them eligible for a BCS bowl. Heck I could see the Sugar wanting to take Texas.

Now this has a <3% chance of happening, but Deloss wants to be viewed as an innovator. His legacy could be tarnished somewhat if he didn't have the "balls" to fire an underperforming coach and bring in a high quality coach. But then again, coaches might not like to come into a situation where they don't know who the AD will be and what that AD will think of him.

Tough situation
