This article uses data rather than emotion to look at where UT is as a program. It's a long'ish read, but very thought-provoking.

ARTICLE

I bumped the "Congrats Texas Basketball" thread with a mention of this and another article from Barking Carnival earlier this morning. No worries about your not seeing that thread before posting that article here, but I will post my comments from the other thread here so everybody will have a chance to see both. Now we have both articles listed in two threads - one for each eye if you have two monitors! ;)

Thought I would give this thread a bump. Here is good read that is worthy of some discussion while we are waiting for some news on Myles Turner. Of course, the latest is that Joel Embiid has decided to leave Kansas for the NBA ... the thot plickens!
Meanwhile, over at Barking Carnival, Bitterwhiteguy posted an article entitled, A Fool's Errand: Texas-Sized Expectations. He uses some comparative statistics to make a case regarding where reasonable performance expectations should be for Texas men's basketball. To quote Bitterwhiteguy, "The attempt here is to understand where Texas is as a program currently, where it ranks relative to other programs in the country, and where it should be aiming in the next few years." Enjoy!

Also, jc25 posted this article entitled, 2013-14 Texas Longhorns Basketball Post-Mortem. One of the best discussions of the past season that I have read. In addition to the article, be sure and read the comments afterwards. Once you get past all of the BC bloggers congratulating each other at the top of the comments, there are some insightful thoughts proffered further down.

While I am at it, here is another link to another article on SB*Nation entitled "NCAA overhaul coming: Many schools, players pushing for change" regarding the right to unionize players at Northwestern and other issues that are likely to affect reorganization of the NCAA. The article is actually a compilation of links to other articles that talk about the issues. Subsequently, each of the linked articles have their own links to other articles. Lots of interesting stuff to read. Looks like the NCAA is in deep doo doo.

This article entitled, "Ranking the NCAA's 5 biggest legal battles, from least to most threatening" is a pretty good synopsis of the biggest issues that the NCAA faces.

And of course, lest we forget, we have here on HornSports this interesting discussion about whether and if so, how, players should be payed. It is all very interesting.
