In more recruiting news..

Texas was holding a baseball camp yesterday. The coaches were looking at some of the kids in '17 and '18 class.

During this camp, I saw a kid who is a Senior at Carroll High School in Corpus Christi. Outfielder Trace Bucey held an offer from Texas A&M and was committed to A&M, when A&M pulled their offer. A&M then offered RHP Landon Minor out of Bryan Texas. This left Bucey very little opportunity to obtain an offer since it was very close to signing day.

Bucey comes from a great family and is a great kid. I reached out to his coach, waiting on a response from the coach. He has already gotten into Texas academically and will be part of the Baseball Program next year as a walk on.

So, Bucey is not your typical walk on player. He has played in some of the bigger events across the US. Was part of the Area Code Team, Plays at one of the better high school for baseball.

He runs a 6.63 in the 60(Which is Fast) swings from the left side.

Edit: Forgot to add this part, Bucey is rated the 149th best player in the nation, and the 14th best in the State.

Welcome to the 40 Acres, Trace.  Glad to have you in Burnt Orange.  Love that lefty upper cut swing.  Ideal for the short (325 ft) RF fence at UFCU Disch-Falk.  Hook 'em!

Caught up with his former High School Coach, spent 25 minutes on the phone talking about everything.. LOL

Anyway, Things you can't teach, speed and character, Trace has both.. as with any young players, they need to spend time in the batting cages, but mention that he has a very high ceiling!

I forgot to say there is another Carroll product that came through the program a few years back, Brooks something or another. I think he had a pretty good career on the turf. If memory serves nobody can wear 23 anymore because of him with all due respect to JimR who also wow that number

During his freshman year, I sat next to his family during a baseball game and the were very nice people.

Not cool and I hope this comes back to bite aggy in the a$$.

Michael Cantu was also at Carroll until his senior year.
