I'm surprised

My best guess is that from ESPN's perspective, and because of the LHN, they do not want to be seen as having had any undue influence on Saban leaving Alabama. They were certainly slow to begin reporting this story, which is a pretty big one within the college game.

While on most stories, they trip over themselves and everyone else claiming to be "the first to report" whatever it may be.

So, I think the various show producers were instructed, by the upstairs powers, to go slow, be overly cautious and report with bias towards Saban remaining at Bama.
Possible.

I have considered that but I think there is way too much smoke. I believe now Saban is coming to UT
Okay, where is Big Mike and what have you done with him?

My guess is that since things are in such a state of flux and there is little traditionally sourced information to go on, a number of media types would rather miss out on this story (or come to the party late) than get it wrong. Details will almost certainly change as things either come together or fall apart and there will be plenty of time when things start happening to jump on the story. After all, pretty much the only people who are watching this story evolve and who have a clue there is a divide in expectations are the UT fans. I don't even think the Bama fanbase is getting the supposed confirmed information we are reading from guys like McPhaul and Shuttlesworth.

I'm glad ESPN is keeping quiet or we might have another OB/Mack situation.

Stfu and let it happen.

PS- Fu Mack!

Agreed. Not all the info we get is from sources that have media credentials. Those that have the media credentials have more to risk than a "message board blogger", and that is not intended as a jab at anyone so please don't take it out of context. McPhaul and Jesus have been all over these stories for a long time as we all know. I just think the major media outlets are waiting on someone like Chip who has credentials and a lot of respect as a journalist to report the "breaking news", even though by the time they confirm the story, it is already well known to us here and over on IT.

I'm sort of with Juan......ESPN is probably protecting sources but also relationships (yeah, and Mack is one of them). They don't want to get too far out in front of this and appear to be cheerleading a Saban move.

I am assuming that the LHN becomes a more valuable property if Nick Saban were the HC. We all agree on this, don't we?

It could possibly cause the network to be picked up by the holdouts which would unquestionably increase revenues.

Thus, it could be argued, ESPN has a vested interest in seeing Saban to Texas.

And, since Saban is under contract to someone else, they might possibly be subjecting themselves to liability if they served as cheerleaders and Saban did leave.

And, even absent any risk of liability, the move is going to ruffle the feathers of some that have existing relationships with.

ESPN is a giant corporate entity that is owned by an even more gigantic entity. They tend to try to avoid that type of issue.

So, that's the logic of them steering clear of reporting the real story here until the dust settles.

It should be noted that the last few days, ESPN has had segments titled "Who's the next Head Coach at Texas."

I'm watching one of those segments right now.
