Texas A & M completely dismantled Oklahoma last night in the Jerry World Cotton Bowl. I am glad they played OU instead of Texas. Before you go off, let me explain.
Texas had a tough year and needed something positive to feel good about themselves and not give the base and recruits a lasting image of another bad loss. They got that in a stirring win over Oregon State. Watching Johnny Manziel shred the OU defense, quite frankly I don't see a chance in hell he wouldn't have done the same thing against Texas and that would have been a disaster.
I want to get this out there. ATM for the time being is a more attractive destination than UT. I underestimated the SEC effect and on top of that we have a young dynamic coach and maybe the best player I have seen in a long time. We need time to get our mojo back and field a better product. I just don't think the risk(see above) was worth the reward because the odds were stacked against the reward.
It's time to get better and I believe we will. No way in hell the Aggies can get better next year. They will lose some of that team and get younger. Can anyone top a year like Manziel had? I know Big Mike has them in the National Championship Game and I am going to call in to the Orange Report and have that discussion with him, but suffice to say LSU and Bama are going to have something to say about that. Plus if they make it through those two, they will have Florida waiting.
Texas meanwhile has a more favorable schedule this season. OU, WVU and KSU all lose senior QB's and UT gets a year older. I see a real chance to win the conference and play ATM in a BCS Bowl. We will be a lot more prepared to win that game. I just don't think we would have won last night.
It is, afterall, about this:
