Outside of Kansas, every game is both winnable and loseable. The 4 teams with a passing game will present problems. That's Baylor, Tech, West Virginia, and TCU. At worst, we are 5-6 going into the last game of the year against TCU. At best, 7-4.

Kansas State - Better than a toss-up in our favor and a likely win. KSU is ordinary at best.

Baylor - Almost a toss-up but a probable loss. Baylor is better than people think.

Texas Tech - Better than a toss-up in our favor and a probable win. Offense only reason they have a chance.

West Virginia - Almost a toss-up. Not sure they're that good. Will know more this weekend vs. TCU.

Kansas - Sure win. Anything other than a total domination is unacceptable.

TCU - Toss-up. Maybe the slightest edge to TCU.

KSU is going to give us serious fits. They are a disciplined team and we will be fortunate if we walk out with a win.

Baylor – Some weeks, they are better than you think. Then other weeks, not so much. Which Baylor arrives in Austin? I think last year will be fresh on their minds.

Tech – If we don't score every time we have the ball, I will be disappointed.

W Virginia – Hard to say how good they are. But until someone shows they're not, this game scares me.

Kansas – We'd get a better game out of Lake Travis High

TCU – We beat them. I can't get past the Kansas game. All year they've been up and down. Played OU decently. Then the egg they laid with Kansas. I think last year will be fresh on OUR minds.

I believe we can win every game on our schedule and I believe we can lose every game on our schedule except maybe Kansas. I've seen both sides of this team, so I'm not sure what I'm going to get from game to game.
Same. The three remaining toughest games... Baylor, WVA, TCU... are home games.

And (King's X, knock on wood) the D may be legit. Needed confidence restored. Hopefully fundamentals back. If kicking game holds and killer penalties go null... 9-3, and we'rrreeee baaaack!!!

I'm predicting 7-5, and winning a bowl game to finish 8-5.

And Charlie keeps his job, but has to find and hire a top-notch DC.

I think that sums it up for me, too.

I think this sums up the whole argument about Charlie's tenure as the Longhorn Coach.  There is just no consistency from one game to the next. I think we should beat K State especially with their starting QB out, Baylor will be much better as they will have a QB when they play us unlike last year. West Virginia is good and they may very well shred our defense plus they have a pretty good defense that could give Buechele problems. Texas Tech is only as good the health of their QB which he is not 100 % right now and Kingsbury is now in the hot seat still they will give Texas fits playing at home. Kansas , ok we should be up by 30 points by the middle of the Third quarter enough said.  TCU, it is all about how Kenny Hill plays and if their defense shows up. This  will be a high scoring game and who has the better special teams play.  So ,  i see us beating K State, Texas Tech , Kansas, and TCU ... not sure that should be a ringing endorsement of "We are Back" or "Charlie has now turned the Corner"  as our conference is just so awful this year.

You guys are making predictions based off talent only. We will get out coached in the kstate and tcu. Baylor and West Virginia are better and tech has the potential to blow the lid off our defense.

Hopefully I'm dead wrong and we run the table.

7-5 with this crap Big 12 is awful... If Strong cannot win the Big 12 on year where everyone sucks I just don't see how he will ever win it. If we go 7-5 there will be a serious movement to have him replaced. Now with that I also think there will be a push to bring him back even at 6 & 6...

KSU QB's are on the level of Kansas's QB's in the B12,

And that level is seriously bad.

They're DFL in passing yards per game and they're a long way from the team immediately ahead of them, which is Iowa State BTW.

They're also DFL in passing efficiency behind even Kansas.

The only hope they have of keeping this game close is to have a big game defensively.

Running the table would sit well with me. I just don't see it happening. Week in and week out this team is just too inconsistent.

I personally see Texas closing out 4-2 (maybe 5-1) to finish 7-5 or 8-4 with a bowl victory.  However, I see the defense playing remarkably better and losing close games against Baylor and West Virginia (although I could see the Horns taking one of those at home).  Texas Tech is bad going to worse, Kansas is Kansas, Kansas State is well coached but they have no passing game at all, and TCU doesn't scare me at all. Last year they did, but this year they're mediocre at best.  I know, I know, the Horns are mediocre, but they're going to get better. Last week was the first step.  Strong comes back with that finish and the Horns pull out a stellar 17 recruiting class.  That's just my opinion.  I went into the season thinking 8-4 and I still think that.  I didn't drink the koolaid yet, but I just filled the pitcher with the mix.  Waiting to add water and stir.

I honestly haven't seen enough of the remaining teams to make any prediction. I feel safe saying any game we lose will be self inflicted. I don't think we will face better teams but we have a good team that's capable of playing terrible. If these guys ever start clicking our schedule is favorable for winning out. I'm not sure how close we are to clicking and could see us going 3-3 beating a couple of the "better teams" and losing a couple to the "bad teams" the conference isn't that good and unfortunately neither are we at the moment. But unlike others in the conference we have the ability to be really good.

Did anybody take note of Hager's comments at the Mon, 10/17 press conference?

Have to listen to it in full to get the full take.

My impression is that the team is now together, the defense in particular.

He pretty much said directly that at K-State they were going to hit them in the mouth on every play.

But was his overall demeanor and attitude that... okay, after all this time... 'we got this.'

I think they know they can play solid every game and take the last half of the season, 6-0.

We'll see. He did say that after the K-State game he may be able to answer the question put to him today, of "why wasn't this level of play done before?"  Said it's a good question and he may be able to answer it after this Sat.

Also pay attention to the player's only meeting Strong had them take last week and how that went and what it was about. Was it Hager that talked about that, or was that Dylan?  Either way, I liked what they said.

Can't say why it took this long, but I believe this team is going to be what it was supposed to be. Or not. Saturday may show if it really has arrived ... or was just a dream that almost came true.
