Houston Hires Kendal Briles and Randy Clements

I read that Herman was in talks with Kendal, according to IT.  Talks stalled cause he wanted to bring Clements. Did anyone else see that? 

 
If Houston wins then all the Houston fans will come on board as winning seems to have a magic way of changing one's perspective!  I am in agreement with others here who are asking if Major is feeling a lot of heat already.  I have just a few friends who said that many voices are being heard that Todd Orlando should have been named the Head Coach and not Major.

IT has a good reputation but I have learned the two editors over there are not always correct. I find the report skeptical. Remember the heat Herman took for an analyst? Imagine Herman bringing Briles, Jr and other former Baylor coach. This is the type of gossiping joked about occurring in knitting circles but done by grown men - started by editors at IT.

If you saw what the hiring of Casey Horny did to Randolph Duke, then you can only imagine the straight jacket size needed for him had we hired Kendal Briles. lol

I have discussed the Horny and Leitao decisions with a few people and we all are bothered by Herman's seeming penchant for creating unnecessary distractions for himself and for squandering goodwill in questionable circumstances.

If Herman tried to bring Kendall Briles to UT Austin, his reserve of goodwill with quite a number of individuals will be gone.

The Horny and Leitao decisions, and then producing nothing better than a 7-6 record has some people (myself included) wondering if Tom understands there are limits to how much he can play the "Mensa wonderboy" shtick. However intelligent Tom Herman thinks he is, there are far more intelligent members of the alumni not very impressed with his decision making skills.

If Herman actually inquired about hiring Briles, it will be known and it will cost him. There is a limit to the mistakes Herman will be allowed to make. Horny was one, Leitao was two, retaining Beck is still in question. But I assure you, Herman has not impressed a segment of the alumni. If Herman truly went to CDC wanting to discuss hiring Briles, the program is beyond f##ked. Herman is not going to be allowed to turn UT football into an all-out scumbag program. Regardless of whether he ever manages to field a team that is better than barely bowl-eligible.

Horny, Leitao, 7-6 and then Briles will kill any goodwill Herman ever had with a number of people.

Time to move on when Herman supposedly wanted to bring in Briles. Yea. Um...no.

You evidently missed the memo that people are still pissed at how Herman gave the finger to the alumni when he brought in Horny and Leitao. And then Perrin/CDC are asking those same people for almost $1.5 billion to fund the wants of the athletic department.

It doesn't work that way.

I can assure you there are already ORA requests being filed next week to find out if there is any evidence Herman wanted to bring in Briles or Clements.

Horny was simply stupid. Leitao was inexcusable. Briles and/or Clements would be the last straw.

The thing is Duke no one disagreeing with you on this one. Don’t have to get defensive. No way this board would let it fly or say hiring ANY briles is okay. You just seem to be out to get Herman is all. From the get go. You obviously are very knowledgeable and I do somewhat enjoy reading your opinions.  I’ll admit that much.

I completly disagree with the Reese Leoita part. Kids make mistakes. He is on a short leash. Texas isn’t the only program that gives 2nd chances. Do you not agree with Tech allowing Dakota Allen to earn his scholarship back after a ARMED ROBBERY incident? He turned out just fine...Hell Herman suspended a few of his BEST players for a bowl game. Why don’t you bring that up? He may not be perfect but he isn’t just chicken shit like u make him sound I don’t believe
