I really appreciate your weekly updates.

I don't follow Texas HS sports very closely, but there are certain teams I like to keep up with. Since I live out of state the information is somewhat difficult to find without searching the internet.

I really appreciate your weekly updates.

I don't follow Texas HS sports very closely, but there are certain teams I like to keep up with. Since I live out of state the information is somewhat difficult to find without searching the internet.

What teams do you want to follow? I'll make sure to post those scores if you let me know who they are.

Hey SHA, could you get updates for my Weslaco Panthers tonight? My dad usually texts me from the game....but he's notoriously bad at updates lol

Hey SHA, could you get updates for my Weslaco Panthers tonight? My dad usually texts me from the game....but he's notoriously bad at updates lol

Did you or your dad ever know a coach Keith Whitaker? He was at Weslaco in the 80s. He's a cousin of mine.

Probably did, my dad was a coach for the Panthers in the 80s and 90s! He worked for WISD for a total of about 36 or 37 years, so I'm sure my dad must have known him at some point. I'll ask!

Well, ya might let him know that he seemingly had a stroke last week. They had him in a hospital in Waco, did all kinds of tests, still not certain whats going on. He's in Fairfield these days, been there ever since he left the valley.

Funny, he's been all over the state and still says the valley is the prettiest part of Texas.

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that SHA....I will definitely let him know, and we'll send prayers his way.

If you're a fan of Palm Trees and plenty of open land, the RGV is the place for you! I agree, I think it's quite the hidden gem.

I'm out at Newsom Stadium in Mansfield to catch a big matchup between Lake Ridge and Timberview.  Recruits of interest are 2016 Top 50 QB Devin Williams of Timberview (Texas State commit) and QB Jett Duffey of Lake Ridge (Texas Tech commit).  Also interested in Arizona State commit 2017 LB Loren Mondy of Lake Ridge.  Mondy visited Texas several times this summer and is a big kid.  As a little insight, I'm basing a big part of my evaluation for the updated Top 50 rankings on tonight when deciding between Duffey and Williams.

As a side note, I wish I could cover every game at Newsom.  It's a wonderful facility and they treat media fantastic here.  It's also 10 minutes from my house.

Camas hosts district foe Battle Ground tonight.

I'm in Dallas so I'll have to post any updates when/if I get them.

I'm out at Manvel vs. Pearland Dawson. Tied up at 7-7 w/3:45 left 1Q. Texas commit Reggie Hemphill has the lone touchdown for the Mavericks.

14-3 here at Lake Ridge/Timberview.  Jett Duffey looks very good and should work out well in the Tech offense.  Devin Williams is a little rattled.  Mondy plays in a "Fox" like position for Lake Ridge and has been a presence for lake Ridge.

Lake Ridge has a 2 star running back Duke Carter committed to Louisiana Monroe who is exceptional tonight.  Over 100 yards in first quarter.  As I type, Duffey connects on a 24 yard touchdown pass to give Lake Ridge a 21-3 lead.

Manvel leads Dawson 28-17 at the half. Mavericks QB and TCU commit Deriq King looking steady tonight. Hemphill isn't seeing a ton of passes tonight but he's getting his fair share.

Tons of talent on this Manvel team.... the ball is spread around well.

Jett Duffey with a perfect throw on a 33 yard touchdown to Jabari Ford gives Lake Ridge a 28-3 lead over Timberview with 6:58 left in the half.  So much for game of the year.  Lake Ridge is better and more physical and Timberview is repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot.
