High School Football Week 17

7-7 at halftime. North Shore scores just before half.

I'm very surprised with the Westlake playcalling. North Shore is predominantly playing Man to Man across the board, but Westlake isn't slinging it around like I thought they would. Ehlinger has thrown some very pretty intermediate and deep balls, but his run game has been bottled up. North Shore also really committing to the blitz and has put him under pressure very very quickly. We'll see if they open it up in the second half.

14 14 end of third. Sam fumbled, North Shore returned for touchdown, then Westlake later blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown to tie it back up

Ok, which band is totally wearing out the old SportsCenter theme? My God, non-stop for the past 20-30 minutes.

LOVING Ehlinger's poise. Dude has ice water running through his veins. And he's a junior.

Katy is your 2015 Class 6A Div. 1 State Champions

Katy 34

Lake Travis 7

FINAL

Katy's defense just proved to be too much for LT, had Brewer running for his life all night. Our man Porter was devastating in the running game. Katy rolls.

Houston area did VERY well this year with Katy, Galena Park North Shore, and Richmond George Ranch all taking state titles.

NE Texas, normally well represented in the state finals, had only one champ this year in Waskom.

Golden Triangle had 1, West Orange Stark.

Central Texas did well with Bremond, Cedar Park and LaVega claiming titles.

Panhandle produced 1 champion in Canadian.

Big Country had 1 champion in Brock, a program in just it's 4th year.

That's a wrap. It's been a fun 17 weeks full of crazy high school football. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have.

I know I've seen a more focused, disciplined, complete-game defensive effort before, but I'll be damned if I can remember when it was. Hell, even the QB made a textbook tackle after throwing an interception. They were well coached and team-first oriented. These are the kids we need to be offering, and what about Coach Joseph?
