Not included in that report was the fact that Destrehan, La and Texas DT commit GERALD WILBON saw their season come to an end, losing their second round play off matchup with Bossier City Parkway, 49-34. Destrehan ended their season at 11-1.

What does the below group of high school football teams have in common?

They all have more wins at AT&T Stadium than the Dallas Cowboys this season.

The Cowboys have two home games left this season, against the Jets (6-5) on Dec. 19 and Washington (5-6) to close out the season on Jan. 3.

Elsewhere, Trophy Club head football coach Brian Polk has resigned to take a position with the UIL. Ryan Cox was fired today as HC at Lucas Lovejoy.

This weekend's game will mark the first time in Mansfield High's history to make it to the fourth round.

I'm sure they would love the opportunity to play, but it would be difficult to show up and play Manvel on one day's notice with having started off season already and not practicing.

From what I read the player in question, who just moved into the Katy HS school zone from another Katy HS, entered the game vs Friendswood when Katy was up 66-0. The rule is they have to wait 14 days during the regular season but not sure how it is in the playoffs. This may be a non-issue, we'll see.

Did this kid play for Seven Lakes in 2015? If so, then he shouldn't be eligible to play for Katy this season. 

Having said that, Katy shouldn't be penalized too harshly for this misstep. It's not like a major contributor helped them. Slap 'em on the wrist and move on.

They didn't say where he played and the fact he could play after 14 days makes me believe he's a SR.

If the school he moved from signed his PAPF then he has to wait 14 days before varsity play no matter the year. If the school does not sign a PAPF he has to sit out a year of varsity play but can play JV.

Totally agree. If it's true that he only entered the game when it was 66-0, then I hope the UIL uses some common sense.

UIL rules that Katy does not have to forfeit its 3rd-round playoff game against Friendswood because of the use of an ineligible player. All three vote to use the mercy rule. Katy will get a public reprimand and a one-year probation.

Good to hear the UIL used some common sense and didn't punish the team and Katy community for this minor infraction.

PAPF was done correctly and he sat 15 days. The issue was he enrolled after district certification (which makes him ineligible for the remainder of the season). Katy HS Head Coach got clearance form his AD that the player was eligible. 

Katy gets a slap on the wrist. The Coach and AD should have never played him after district certification! Why take the chance?
