Herman's staff?

I like the hire and I like the staff that Herman is putting together, seems like there is a theme of getting in younger coaches who have energy on the recruiting trail. I think he's a quality coach with good knowledge of the state. If you notice I think Herman is getting guys with Texas ties , that's what makes the difference in recruiting, it's all about relationships. If we win 9 games this year I think it'll be all she wrote and UT will reclaim the state and keep our top prospects from leaving the state.
I think this hire all but eliminates the possibility of Joey McGuire joining the staff. Very interested to see who the OC is, Herman did not call the plays at Houston

Rutgers bio says that he was hermans recruiting coordinator at Houston.

Stan Drayton, who's currently the RB coach for the bears but was on the Ohio State staff with Herman and is known as a great recruiter and has some history recruiting in Texas is a name that keeps popping up, not sure if he has play calling experience though

I'm not very excited about Herman's staff at this point. Hopefully he has his eye on a good OC.

Name the top assistants for every team in the top 10 right now... GO.... Seriously no one knows most assistants on any team but I would love to hear from you who Herman should have hired. List them for us?

You are being a tad bit aggressive don't ya think? But I agree with you this is looking like it will be a good staff and should do well in recruiting the state of Texas however I do understand where he is coming from relative to there being a "Wow" hire. If we don't get Brewster the only candidate for a wow hire would probably be Orlando. I understand that people want Herman to hire a name that they are familiar with but they should instead worry about him making a hire he's comfortable with. A cohesive coaching staff that works well with one another can be the difference between a W and a L.
Plus I bet Herman is banking on the fact that his assistants all have relationships with Texas high school coaches so now with the backing of the Texas brand they can recruit even better.

My feeling is Herman is an HC /OC who has a vision and wants people to execute that vision and that making a "wow" hire as an OC is risking a guy coming in with an ego that he probably doesn't know very well. I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt. Of course it was the same with Strong as the HC / DC and look how that worked out 
I feel like the difference with him and Strong is Herman had this planned a while ago, since he's been hired he's been so tactical. If he's doing this well in relaying his message to recruits with four assistants I can't wait to see what he does with his full 9 officially working and in uniform. it's always good to have time to plan. with the season that we had, it wasn't hard to see that there was a possibility that someone else would be coaching UT next year. and in fact, herman's name was rumored throughout the last part of the season. strong had no idea he was going to change jobs, so no planning was going to happen.
when you say "he's doing this well in relaying his message to recruits", implies to me that there is some level of success. if the recruits sign with UT, then i would say he did well with his message and it was successful. it hasn't resonated with some of the top recruits yet. let's see how it plays out.

Okay maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit, but the messge is definitely getting across and that's from what I've heard from a high school coach and a couple of guys that I know personally that he is recruiting. I'm telling you all we have to do is win and Herman will paint Texas burnt orange , he is that good. I was initially skeptical of the hire because I did not think he had enough experience but I'm telling ya based on what I've heard about him since he's been hired, we could have ourselves a special coach. But then again he hasn't even coached his first game , only time will tell.
